I'm not gonna hype myself too much but that's the type of win that can give a good boost to a team. This is gonna take some pressure off Dach-Newhook and a shutout like that is gonna restore some confidence to the D squad. And of course Dobes who was flawless in his first NHL appearance. And this wasn't against a bottom feeder but vs one of the top NHL team and the defending cup champions.

Hopefully this carries against Tampa tomorrow.
Tampa will be a different animal, so many weapons. Should be fun

Habs fans. Yeah we suck right?

Naahhh...

Slafkovsky - Suzuki - Caufield
Demidov - Dach - Laine
Anderson - Newhook - Gallagher
Heineman - Beck - Kapanen
Could very well be. It depends on how much is offered for Evans at the TDL and how much he wants for his next contract. But notice I had Evans as a slash. So your bottom six has the same personnel as the options I presented, just different line combos.

I actually also like Newhook at C. But Kapanen is also best at C. So we'll see how things shake out...including if HuGo try to bring in some more size to the bottom six. Nice to see Anderson playing the physical role well and Heineman emerging.

The fact you and others can't get it through your brains that a large part of his value derives from the fighting aspect is astounding. Same idea that had people craping on him to start the season.
I'm glad Habs coaches see him as more than a face puncher, he has the potential to be top 4 but sure let's have him sit in the box and get injured periodically in garbage time fights

He’s 28. You see the guy has spent a few more years in the NHL. He has all the little tricks that make Ds take more time to hit their peak. He’s sharp like a knife.
We needed a steady presence back there. Badly. He's made a big difference. It makes it a lot easier to bring in guys like Maillioux and RB when there's a solid player above who can eat tough minutes.

Sometimes great players don't make great coaches. And apparently sometimes great coaches don't make great GM's.

Important to try to make as many GM's like this before they're out of the job! Nice work by Hughes making good deals with Holland, Hextall, Trevling, and now Trotz.

If there's a Worst GM of the Year Award the frontrunner is Trotz giving up Carrier and Fabbro. Yzerman is right behind him for fumbling Walman.

I don't know if giving up Carrier is going to be a bad move for them. They're not winning anything this season and didn't need him the way we did. Let's check back in a few years... I still think Barron could have a good career.

Not by watching games from the stands or playing ~7 min per game no. I still have no flippin clue why Preds did that trade. I would have offered better assets for Carrier and it would have worked both ways anyhow.

It was great when Hughes brought in LD Matheson for RD Petry.

Sometimes even in a trade, you don't have to trade for need but for the best asset available. Fabbro and Walman would have been nice adds.

I'm certainly not dropping another hundred on a habs win tomorrow, but it's certainly something to build off, let's hope they keep the momentum.

11-8 since Nov 14. That is pretty startling to me.
Yup... and 7-4 with Laine in the lineup... (& really, 7-3 since he barely played in the CBJ loss).

Might just be that KH & co. did make a pretty solid assessment on where the team was at.

Will be interesting to see how the second half of the season goes... If any or all of Dach, Newhook & Slaf pick up their game and we can stay healthy on D, we will stay in the WC hunt right till the end

On paper, Barron has everything going for him. First Rounder. 6’2. 23. Has put up some offence in the pros.
