Needless to say it was very close to being a Leafs/Bruins second round matchup. Two of the biggest "if only's" include Marchand's breakaway in the dying seconds of regulation in game 5 and had the B's held the lead in 3rd period of game 7.

It's possible because both teams lacked goaltending

People forget the muffin's Samsonov was giving up. He forgets where the net is sometimes and gives up backbreakers - so we probably lose to Carolina even if we win

We need a goalie we can depend on, maybe try Woll as the starter next season. Samsonov had 0 rebound control and gives up soft goals because he doesn't cover the net or forgets he's in a hockey game, not sure which one

On paper both teams are pretty even but there is probably no reason to think the offense would not dry up like it did against the Panthers series so I am also a bit skeptical they would have won.

Points about Sammy's rebound control agreed

Bruins played poor defensively and they had no goaltending which the leafs could have eaten up. I think we lose to Carolina though

thats funny because this is asking a question about something that didn't happen lol

its up to your imagination i guess?

what would happen to hfboards if you didn't post this topic? Would it still be in operation tomorrow or would it fold and cease to exist?

I think it would have gone 7 and then it would have been a toss-up. The Leafs took the Panthers lightly and played the first three games like they didn’t respect their opponent. It’s what this core does.

I do, actually. We always play up or down to what our guys perceive our opponents as. The Bruins were the second demon, who would have been making a run after a historic season. I was posting that I wanted Boston since February. It was a date with destiny and we’d have given them a hell of a series. Getting the 8th seed was a kiss of death.

Firstly , Why does it matter - and secondly - absolutely not - They were outplayed vs Tampa and ,lucky to win that series .

I'm guessing that a series loss against Boston might have been viewed differently in comparison to the defeat that actually happened.
