Much has been said about the high intensity level of play at the Four Nations tournament. The Canadian and American players looked like they played a short, intense playoff series, when it was all said and done.
Here's a look at the top 5 scorers and their first two games back after playing (or not playing) the Four Nations tournament:
Nathan MacKinnon (played): 2GP 0G 0A 0Pts
Leon Draisaitl (did not play): 2GP 2G 1A 3Pts
Nikita Kucherov (did not play): 2GP 1G 2A 3Pts
Connor McDavid (played): 2GP 0G 1A 1Pts
Mitch Marner (played): 2GP 0G 0A 0Pts
So that begs the question, did a week of rest benefit the players who missed the Four Nations altogether?
