Do Matthews/Eichel make the Olympic team

Hoping NHL/Matthews goes so we can find out what elite players work well playing with him (Already found out McDavid but longshot he comes home)
 
Team U.S.A will do the usual and pick a sub-par team compared to the best that they could put out there.
 
I think Matthews does, and Eichel is a reserve.

I think they are talented enough, but I think team USA makes this choice.

a line of Gaudreau-Eichel-Wheeler would be fun

I mean, maybe the Matthews could carry Eichel on his wing, but that's the only way it might work. I'd hate to handicap the young phenom like that, but it might just make us all love him more if he can make Jack look like anything more than the plug that he is. It's really too bad Marner isn't American. We wouldn't even need to have this discussion if that were the case.
 
I don't see why not, if Marner was also American I'd say he has a shot too, but its highly unlikely he makes Canada 2018, but I can definitely see future best on best appearances for Marner with Canada.
 
They're already the US' best centers. The US has had good wingers, D, and goaltending in recent years, but the lack of high-end offensive centers has destroyed them. Adding a couple of big, fast, highly-skilled centermen could bring this squad together.

I hope NHLers go to the Olympics just for these two.

If USA wants to win, they will leave Jack Eichel off the team. Can't win with the guy.

Yes, obviously if Marner was American it would help the cause but he isn't...too bad.

Give Eichel another 4 years, he might be ready for International play by then.

I'm just not sure 4 years will be enough.

You must be kidding, obviously in 4 years Eichel will be good enough for the 13th forward slot. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if he made it all the way up to the 4th line playing wing for a couple minutes in the round robin stage!
 
Matthews will 100%. I'm not sure if Eichel has the grit to play for Torts (who will probably be coach again) though.
 
They need to accept the youth movement sooner than later.

Matthews and Eichel SHOULD make the US team. but then again, looking at the idiotic roster they had this year, who knows what they would actually do.
 
Matthews would make Team Canada, for sure he makes the US.
