Detroit may have just ended their season trying to use a trick play when standard offense was moving the ball.

Or - to quote a buddy on my group chat: "You live by the insane coach, you die by the insane coach"
Yep. I know the trick plays are part of their normal offense with how often they use it...but occasionally they backfire. Those WR passes, they gotta know to throw it away if it's not wide open.

That 10 second runoff rule makes no sense when they stop it just before the snap on a running clock like that. It took the Lions 15 seconds to lineup for another play, but they put 5 seconds back on the clock because of a silly rule.

That 10 second rule should only be instituted when it goes from a stopped clock to a running clock due to the result of the review (or when they clearly stop it before the offense is ready to snap the ball)

Sad that Detroit is out this early, they were who I'd want to see win most if Buffalo got knocked out. That being said Daniels is amazing and seeing Washington win it all would be a great story as well. Also get a bit of satisfaction from the Bills essentially exposing the Lions first

Did Goff Goff this game? Every now and then, he just shits the bed.
Eh, that will be the narrative but he sure didn't get much help from his defense. They did score a net of 24 points (taking into account the pick 6) and none of the other turnovers really resulted in short fields for Washington - the reality is Detroit couldn't get off the field on defense either. Add to that one of the picks was a WR throwing the pass..,

Washington scored 5 TD's on 6 drives during the heart of the game (the last of which made it 45-28) covering 78, 70, 70, 70, and 66 yards. They ate the Detroit defense's lunch.

Assuming Philly beats the Rams tomorrow......I cannot picture Washington then beating Philly.

I'm starting to get some really bad vibes about a Buffalo/Philly Super Bowl......and Buffalo completes the NFC East sweep by losing.

The Bills vs a team coached by a WNY native would make for some great storylines, though...

Goff is pretty much your average NFL QB in a great system. Kinda like Tua.

Give him time in the pocket and open targets, he's going to be an absolute baller. Or a soft prevent defense (like the late charge against buffalo), going to absolute light it up.

Put pressure on him and disrupt his 1st read....he's going to have problems.

But...in the end....it was the injuries to the defense that killed the lions. With a fully healthy defense they would have been up 21-7 at the half an just cruised to a win by running it

I'll put some blame on the d coordinator though. They didn't have the bodies to play man and blitz so much vs Daniels. He burned them constantly when they sent an overload. Either just ran the other way or found the open man.

Oddly enough, I felt more nervous about last week than this week. I think they can pull it off but I'm also at peace with either outcome weirdly.... Just don't get embarrassed please

I think it's because the game SHOULD be a coin flip unless gamescript goes out of hand, versus last week where while a sneaky upset wasn't impossible, general expectation is that the 2 seed can handle the 7 seed and a loss would be massively embarassing regardless of score.

I hope we win

Feeling a mix of nerves and excitement with that uneasy feeling in the pit of my stomach. Why does the performance of a football team matter so much to us? lol

Funny thing...WAS coach was the riskier one.

If the refs cut the play for review there should be no run off...set was about to snap thr ball but they lose 10 sec because of of a ref mistake

Every QB in the league has bad games. You cant blame Goff for the 38 pts was scored ( not counting pick 6) by WAS offense.
