Muppet Babies, one of the best things about growing up in the 80s, is returning.

The Muppet Babies are returning to TV for more make-believe adventures.

Disney has announced it has begun production on a reimagined version of the classic kid series. The series, which will be CG animated, is slated to air in 2018 on Disney Junior.

Original intros from 1985 and 1986:

Hopefully, they'll use the theme song (updated and re-recorded, obviously).

Excellent. For some reason the episode where Gonzo is supposed to guard the cookies but eats them is burned in my memory.

What's your issue? Disney has done a good job bringing the Muppets back. There's no reason to think that they can't do a good job reviving Muppet Babies, as well. Besides, it's not really for us adults, anyways. I may not actually watch it or find it enjoyable, but that doesn't matter. It's for the kids, and whether they like it is all that matters. I'm happy enough that a new generation, including all of my young nephews and nieces, will be able to grow up with Muppet Babies, as I did.

Why does it seem like I'm the only one who's always known that the Muppets suck

It's because you are the only one. You are, thus, a freak and an outcast to be shunned. You are what humans are like without The Muppets in their lives and are to be pitied for it. You know, it's never too late to let The Muppets into your heart, [looks at user name]... Grumpy. What an appropriate name .

Ok.. thats fine. I'll never watch it. I'm not their audience. But, the original Muppet babies is how I was first introduced to Star Wars when they would do those door gags.

Weren't you the same guy that threw a fit when ABC brought back the Muppets under "Adult" circumstances. So the kid Muppets aren't good enough for you but "Adult" muppets aren't either?

The only one who threw a "fit" in that thread was you. I calmly criticized ABC's The Muppets for not being kid-friendly enough and you repeatedly screamed in all caps at me stuff such as "IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO BE FOR KIDS!!!!" like a raving lunatic. I ended up being absolutely right about them making a mistake in how the show was targeted, since it ended up being canceled, but you never admitted it. You simply threw another fit, irrationally blaming viewers who didn't like it (like me) for getting it canceled.

Also, I don't know where you get that I think that "kid Muppets aren't good enough" for me. I started this thread because I obviously loved "kid Muppets," and I even basically said that it's good enough for me if today's kids like this new series. The Muppets should always be kid friendly first, IMO, and if adults also enjoy it, that's a bonus. That's very much consistent with what I said in the other thread.

You also neglect to mention everyone else in the thread disproved your notion.

This show doesn't seen as hilarious as the ABC version. That was a show you could watch every week with hilarious cameos. Reception wasn't as overwhelmingly negative as you put it. Good shows get canceled. It doesn't mean they failed. Family Guy, Futurama and arrested development were all canceled and at the time all were successful.

I can't see how you can claim that when my "notion" was proven the moment that the show was canceled. Your notion, that the show could be successful despite essentially targeting only childless millennials, is the one that was disproven.

First, I have never said that reception was "overwhelmingly negative" or anything even close. I don't know where you get impressions like that, unless you're mistaking the meaning of ratings (they denote number of viewers, not assessment of quality). Second, none of those four shows were "successful" by the time that they were canceled. They all had their ratings drop significantly. That's why they were canceled, and the three that you named were canceled after three seasons. The Muppets was canceled due to insufficient ratings after only one season. In the industry, that's a failure, regardless of whether it was a good show.

Don't know anything about Muppet babies, but the original Muppets were good (Statler and Waldorf!).

Muppet Babies was a Saturday morning cartoon from 1984 to 1991. It was inspired by the following musical number in the 1984 movie The Muppets Take Manhattan:

You may not have wanted to learn more, but I needed an excuse to post the clip and watch it again.

This thread is way too violent considering the subject.

Muppet Babies is serious business, Bon.

Used to watch it, I'll DVR some for my toddler to see if he likes it. If so, I doubt I'll mind watching it again. I enjoy the regular Muppets.

Muppet Babies was awesome when I was a kid. Interested to see if my little guy will like the new one.
