I disagree with the title. I think dirty, greasy goals are exactly what got us into this mess. Our offense is: dump the puck in, cycle to the point along the boards, get a forward to the net, and fling the puck randomly in the direction of the net. Our offense is mired in getting as many old school, low chance, shots to the net as possible and hoping the puck bounces in. We are outshooting our opponents and still losing games 0-3, and part of that is puck luck, but our entire offense is based on puck luck. I mean everyone can see it, I am sure the Kings are aware of it as they are playing teams now routinely who are passing the puck cross ice and roofing it on Quick while we are shooting pucks into shins hoping for a pinball into the net. Our system and defensemen aren't getting it done, I think it might be time to for a change in philosophy.
That I believe would require an entire roster change, This team is less skilled than the 2012 team.
I doubt Lombardi is keen on playing any other type of system.
By losing Penner, Richardson, and Scuderi?
I don't know what it is but the Kings still get a few quality shots a night, I don't buy that everything is a crap shot. Players might be gripping the stick to tight or just mentally and physically out of tune.

No what I mean is this roster is older....Players do age.
Richards is older, Brown is older, Mitchell is starting to show his age.
A-Mart is not the same, Greene is not the same, Stoll ETC.
The only Kings that are currently playing at a high level is Kopitar and Carter, Nolan, Quick, Drew, Williams, King.
by older you mean they enter their prime ?????
sure..........
sometimes i really have to wonder players are told to say specific things.
"it's not just the offense, we have to tighten the defense"
So we are 1st in NHL in goals against and we have to tighten the defense instead boosting the offense ??????
I thought i lost it when TM was the head clown but this is a real good one.
.
Yep. Passing on quality shots looking for a perfect play, yet not getting to the rebounds for the quantity shots. At first, they were thinking too hard, now it seems they're just going for volume hoping for a breakthrough but without emotion. Can't get the greasy goals if you don't want to go there. It can be frustrating when all your hard work isn't paying off, but that's exactly what it takes to get out of this slump. I also agree with Telos that thinking only that way is what got us here in the first place, but to get out, it's gonna take hard work and grease, but also creativity and less self-pressure.
LA is averaging 2.07 goals against per game, in their last nine games, they have allowed 2.78 goals per game. this is exactly what hes addressing in his quote above
looks like someone didnt read the article in the OP![]()
I read the article from beginning and finished it.
And i have to say i am not a least bit concerned about an allowed goal of 2.78.
What really concernes me that we have a goals 1.11 goals for in these 9 games.
Even if we tighten our defense and go back to a 2.07 goals against
we lose the game by 1.6 goals
So talking about tighten the defense is absolutely ridiculous.
Our brass needs a reality check and that fast.
We have to get rid of Sutter and don't replace him with Sutter 2.0.
Our PP coach has to bring an offensive plan to the table to fix the offense and the PP or he has to go as well.
If Lombardi is blocking these moves he has to leave ASAP.
We are done playing around and running as system from 1964
