I notice them but it's not a huge deal since there were ads there anyway
They're a bit worse than before because they glitch sometimes but jersey ads for example are worse

Part of it to me is how early it is in the season, I'm watching more hockey now because I'm just excited to have it back, but the amount of advertising is already starting to grate on me. The board ads look terrible, the jersey ads are worse, the little commercials that play during icings are the worst.

Basically, while right now my viewing habits are about the same as always, it's been a much worse broadcast experience for every game I've watched and I'm less inclined to seek out other games to watch because of it. I think over time, maybe over multiple seasons, maybe over this one, I will probably just watch my own team's games and that's it. Even that will be worn away as the amount of advertising increases.

If they did one stretch of games with advertising like it used to be in say, the 1980s and then one stretch of games like it is now, I think a lot more people would be decrying it. As it is, they've frog in the cooking potted us so to speak. It's been so gradual that people say they don't notice, but I suspect it really is a lesser experience than it used to be, for all of us.

Hasn't impacted the volume of games I watch, but I do notice some glitches from time to time (i.e. the digital component overlaying on top of a player in the corner).

I do wish they kept the boards traditional - there are already so many ads that I don't think they needed to try to change it.

I think with some tinkering they could probably be made a lot more palatable that they current are. The main issues I'm seeing are (in kind of rough order)

1) The white is too white and feels unnatural
2) The moving ads are a problem - if they're going to move at all it should be toned down
3) Occasional glitches where a player getting hidden
4) Ads get cropped off sometimes and look weird

I'd prefer if they scrapped the whole thing but that's obviously not going to happen.

I'm really surprised by these results. I'm guessing that those that have an issue with the ads are really, really bothered by them but that is a minority of the viewers.

To me, this is the most radical change we've seen in sports viewing history - not sure what else compares. Maybe the Fox glowing puck era, which didn't last very long. For as many ads as other leagues try to cram down your throat (the NFL in particular), these don't happen while the actual game is being played. The animated ads are actively trying to distract you from the 60 minutes of hockey. They also glitch on a regular basis and give a fuzzy halo around players in front of the boards and go apeshit when someone opens the bench door. It's also very unnatural looking - I'm at the point now where I have to actively focus my attention away from the boards to enjoy the game.

Really thought there would be more outrage against these, but I guess not. Can't wait to see what they have up their sleeves next to inject even more advertising into the game.

Ads on helmets. Ads on jerseys. Digital ads on the glass. Digital ads on the ice. Digital ads on the boards.

All painful to consider, but what sets it over the edge are the animated ads during play which as disgusting and distracting (intentionally so). Some will say they don't even notice them but that is a lie. The motion is created to draw your gaze if only a split second which truly shows the fans' value in the equation.
