Did the NHL mess up by not getting a photo of the Stanley Cup with Messi?

When the Panthers won the cup this year, as is typically the case, other pro sports teams in the area congratulated the team, including Inter Miami, the Heat and Dolphins, which all posted on their social media.

It's also common for local pro teams to invite the Cup winner to one of their games, often with the Stanley Up in tow. The Dolphins invited Zito and a bunch of players to their opening game to salute the crowd.

Surely, the NHL or Panthers could have convinced Inter Miami to get at the very least a photo of Messi with the cup, or ideally, a quick meet and greet with some players?

I know that the heart of Panthers fandom is in Broward County and Fort Lauderdale, but getting the cup to an Inter Miami game would have been huge for outreach to the larger South Florida region, as well as the diverse demographic of soccer fans.

Doesn't seem terribly important to me. What woukd such a picture accomplish? Are you imagining that there are people out there who are going to see a picture of Messi with the Stanley Cup and decide to start watching NHL hockey?

Well most people would think "wow that is a big a.. trophy!"...
Secondly maybe a lot would think, oh wow Messi likes the NHL, maybe I should watch a game or two or read more about it.
Most importantly, the NHL should find some kind of plan to build on it as their marketing is absolutely terrible from a fan point of view. Currently its either soft spoken motionless profiles or dick pick Biz-talk that promote the brand.

I like watching the NHL, having more people watch the NHL does nothing for me. Couldn't care less about the NHL getting more exposure. They are doing just fine with their multi billion dollar business. Why do I care if they get more? Why do people care about this?
