I don’t think nobody looks good.

I think 2 or 3 key guys look abysmal and two more aren’t in the lineup.

And I think that’s huge.

I don’t think the kids look bad.

I don’t think the third and fourth lines look bad.

I think our top players, who are actually still one the lineup, look bad.

Unfortunately, the roster is weighted in that direction. So as they go, so goes the team.
The kids don't *look* bad but at the end of the day, if not for a tiebreaker exhibition, Lafreniere has 0 points in 14 games.

Offense is a team-wide problem.

Patience is good but we can't allow ourselves to slip into accepting any results because it's a rebuild.

So, more excuses? This loss is ok under the circumstances.

The Devils haven’t played/practiced in weeks, were without their top center and two PMD, and ice a pretty “meh” roster to begin with.

When do these losses stop being ok? When does the team’s inability to score go from “the floodgates are about to open” to “they are terrible in the end game”?

Something has got to give.

I’m not making an excuse. They didn’t play like a team that wanted to win in the third period.

But I also look at the roster they had in that third period and see what was already an uphill battle, without even taking that into consideration.

High emotions aside from a second, if I named a roster with some of the 6 or 7 names that we had for the third, what would your immediate gut reaction be?

Forget Quinn. Forget other things for a second.

Blind taste test: our roster includes Rooney, PDG, Howden, Hajek, Bitito, Lemieux, Blackwell, and Smith.

What’s the first reaction that pops into your head?

I'm a Rangers fan but they deserve this right now after the b.s. with DeAngelo. I've still yet to hear a good explanation as to why he was booted. Breaking a stick and pushing a teammate isn't near good enough an excuse.

What message does it send when you give up on your young players so easily? The idiot coach didn't like him so lets just kick him off the team. Yeah, great idea. No. Just no.

Anyway this isn't even a real season so who cares. Rangers selling "pods" now and there's all these stupid restrictions? Why would anyone in their right mind want to go to MSG?

You couldn't pay me enough. I'll stick to watching Messier and Leetch in the 90s on VHS, thanks.

Outside of letting Strome go, I’m not sure what they could have done tbh, flat cap, massive rookie bonuses, a billion dollars in buyouts this season.

There were very few trades at all during the free agency period. The Jack Johnson signing was really dumb, but they also did get Blackwell and Rooney.

This summer feels like a really important one, you would hope decisions on Mika and Buch come over the summer and not kicking the can until the deadline next year.

they could have moved out Kredier, Strome or TDA at the deadline.

They could only afford a Jack Johnson b/c they tied up so much cash in vets in addition to the dead money. They have almost $5 million sitting at home with TDA.

There were multiple bigger bodies they could have brought in. All you need are a few.

If we went with Quinn instead of Quenville, one of the best and most beloved in the business and then pass on two NHL calibre coaches in Monty and Gallant that have coached their team to regular season and post season success in their final year as head coach in order to keep this college coach around as some pet project to prove that they were right all along then the entire upper management should be let go. Won't be but should be.

we are down 3 or 4 goals after 1 if Geo plays. I say that s someone who doesnt dislike Geo.

Agreed, Shesterkin's play dropped in the last two periods, but I think maybe one goal was even remotely on him. We'd lose this game 6-2 or 7-2 with Georgiev today. Just a piss poor effort in a pivotal game. Every player except Kakko and MAYBE Shesterkin need to be embarrassed. Have some f***ing pride your worthless pansies!

BTW, was that Fox's worst game of his career? Maybe he's not ready for these types of minutes.
He’s a weird case imo. He’s really, really good at certain things. In the o-zone, hes otherworldly at keeping the puck in the zone, for example. But he’s not very good at actually creating scoring chances, either getting good shots himself or passing to create high danger chances, and he’s getting played like he’s that guy.

I'm probably a minority here, but I also think we're seeing how much of an effect Lundqvist had in that room as a leader. I know we talked about Fast and Staal as well and their leadership, but I truly believe Hank held some guys' feet to the fire even once relegated to back up on competing to the level he knows they can.

Anyone else need a Maker's Mark poured?

Frankly I think the team has bigger problems than Quinn long term. He’ll be gone at some point but Zibanejad playing poorly like he has is way more impactful

If he dosen’t get it together, (this season is probably down the drain for him) this team has no 1C and there ain’t one in the pipeline

I very much feel this is a martial arts like challenge right now. Where the head is going, the body will follow.

Right now our head is either on the IR or in Never-Neverland. And the rest of the roster follows.

I'm not even talking about him on the offensive end, he was embarrassed on both 3rd period non-empty net goals.

It's very easy to condescend to people when you take the safe stance that "There hasn't been enough time yet". It's a non starter of an argument that completely avoids any sort of hockey related analysis. So if my ass got put in the FO or behind the bench you'd need 3 f***in years to figure out I am not doing a good enough job? (or at least that I've made a few mistakes I shouldnt have)

That said, coaching wise I'm sold that Quinn just doesn't have it.

Buuuuut

FO wise it's a mixed bag. I am still stunned the goof troop we have here were so offended by the notion that there are a lot of alarming signs that Gorton has some significant flaws. Flaws that show up in regards to evaluating pro talent and deciding who gets what contracts and when. How many failures and questionable decisions do you need to see before you're willing to say "Yea a better job could've been done here."

Ironically these same people burned down villages just to get their rants about Sather across

Edit: and dont get me wrong there are people who aren't killing the FO office yet...and they are being patient...but they're doing so in a fair, reasonable way. I'm referencing the usual suspects who have to act like clowns bc they're long tenured posters.

That's not good enough.

Like I said, patience is one thing, but this is a results-oriented league.

Outside of Kakko and Fox, there's nothing good about this season at all.
