Okay:

The game is tied and your defense is Bittito, Smith, Hajek and Fox.

Miller is it. Trouba is out.

At forward, Chytil is out and Panarin is out.

Zibanejad might as well be out.

Your most effective forwards include a handful of AAAA players and a kid who just turned 20.

Your best center is Kevin Rooney.

Yours odd of winning the game, despite being tied, aren’t great.

Couple that with veterans who look lost and I think winning would be pretty remarkable.
So, more excuses? This loss is ok under the circumstances.

The Devils haven’t played/practiced in weeks, were without their top center and two PMD, and ice a pretty “meh” roster to begin with.

When do these losses stop being ok? When does the team’s inability to score go from “the floodgates are about to open” to “they are terrible in the end game”?

Something has got to give.

i question if they know what to do.

Both Gordon and JD were alarmed at what happened against Carolina . . . then the Rangers won the lottery and it’s as if they just moved forward.
They walk around acting like they have the answer key and all will be well in the end despite all the alarms sounding.

This is a good point. Is the Martin style of defense not allow the D men to aggressively jump in on the offense?
Also doesn't hurt we no longer have the guy who was best at doing that.
I don't even think these coaches communicate well with each other. This coaching staff is awkward, no chemistry between the 3 at all.

I doubt anything major happens during the season. I think it’ll come down to lottery luck yet again. This team is bad. They’re injured and already have depth issues. I’m curious what the FO is thinking.

Right but then we're back to basically nobody looks good. Team-wide issues indicate a coaching issue.

I don’t think nobody looks good.

I think 2 or 3 key guys look abysmal and two more aren’t in the lineup.

And I think that’s huge.

I don’t think the kids look bad.

I don’t think the third and fourth lines look bad.

I think our top players, who are actually still one the lineup, look bad.

Unfortunately, the roster is weighted in that direction. So as they go, so goes the team.

what are we now 2-6 against NJ/Buff/Pitt? Three teams we should be better than. and teams that could be making excuses as well. just look at the players they've missed covid or no covid

Totally off topic but any of you guys watching the Avs vs Knights? I must be tired because those gold helmets look awesome!!

Oh. And both teams really compete hard. I mean really hard.

Every team has depth issues under these circumstances.

The reality is that on paper this is supposed to be a playoff team this year. That’s why Panarin was signed when he was, and Kreider was not dealt at the deadline like all of our previous UFAs had been. It’s because this was intended by management to be our first competitive season.

And now, we are bottom 3 in the league. This has to be noticed by management and at the end of the day someone has to get the blame.

they tried for the best of all worlds. Win with:

- keep and pay veterans
- develop kids
- add no muscle

Been ugly watching that win percentage stat drop every game when they show Quinn on the bench. I know we're rebuilding but 2.5 seasons under .500 should put any coach on the street if it gets there by years end.

We have 2 top 20 players from last year, two top 2 picks, two of the best defensive prospects/young players, and one of the best young goalies in the league. This isn't a typical rebuild. They should at least be in contention for the final playoff spot. This is f***ing unacceptable.

Best player with and without the puck until he shoots it. He still can't get a clean shot at this leve.
frustrating. He looks so good until that point. I think he is gonna have to find a way to score goals like he did against pitt earlier. on a rebound going to the net.

If not for the expansion Seattle team the Rangers pick 3rd rather than 4th pre lottery.

3rd worst in the league :thumbd:

Outside of letting Strome go, I’m not sure what they could have done tbh, flat cap, massive rookie bonuses, a billion dollars in buyouts this season.

There were very few trades at all during the free agency period. The Jack Johnson signing was really dumb, but they also did get Blackwell and Rooney.

This summer feels like a really important one, you would hope decisions on Mika and Buch come over the summer and not kicking the can until the deadline next year.
