Get his stupid ass, Bill
As the guy who wants the NJ players to commit attempted murder most of the time, if your team is dominating and the problem is scoring one more goal, I can argue that maybe they have to go to the net a bit harder or forecheck a bit more, but the retaliation there isn't the issue. Each instance has to be evaluated separately. If NJ was up by two or three or down by two or three I'd view it differently but the game last night was there for NJ they just couldn't get a lucky bounce or a softy from Stolarz and they needed to stay focused on that since it's not like Toronto made any real push in the game. If Bratt is out with Jack and scores in OT it's a different discussion today.

Remember when the Devils earlier in the year went down 2-0 v Detroit because they were so focused on getting Rasmussen for the hit on Jack on the empty net goal on the previous Wings v Devils game and this board bitched? If that happened last night, all of you would've done the same thing. This team isn't soft, answering every stupid or dumb hit isn't feasible because refs will call you on ticky tack shit that could lose you a game via special teams. Maybe complain that the powerplay which has been our greatest strength went 0-4 and didn't make Toronto pay for the lame shit they were doing. I'm so tired of this bullshit argument every 3-4 months popping up here.

I agree with that. It’s a fine line. Sure you don’t want to be pushed around (which I don’t think the team has been this year), but at the same time, if Dillon responds, gets a penalty and the Leafs end up tying the game, most people would be mad. It was a 1-0 game with the team having trouble scoring.

If it was a 3-0 game, I get the feeling the ream would’ve done something.

Remember also when Brendan Dillon got boarded in Detroit and then went after the guy and the refs called Dillon and not the board in the game we lost to them this year? The PK came up big for the particular kill but my point is you can't let the refs decide these things because if someone stepped up for Jack or Kovacevic, we probably go shorthanded to start the third with the Leafs knowing they'd have to push for a goal or we just handed momentum on something stupid. There's time and places for doing shit and the particular game script wasn't one of them. The next time these teams play and say the Devils are up 4-1 or 4-2 late then expect something then but not in a 1-0 game where you've dominated and your opponent is looking for anything to turn momentum

Why is there the narrative going around that Keefe teams blow leads in the 3rd? The Devils are 15-0-1 after leading after 2. Was that happening often in Toronto?

They're not getting out of the East with this Markstrom, no shot in hell, which was my original point. He's had maybe 3-4 solid games and the rest of it is the offense spotting him 3-4 goals a game consistently and sometimes more like the doofus Caps games
I wouldn’t say there’s no shot in hell we can’t get out of the East with Markstrom. I think it’s possible we can.

But I also could totally see him being the difference in a series loss, much like Andersen was for the Canes last year against the Rangers. And I could totally see him doing something like that to us, with people saying “well we didn’t score enough tho!” Because the goalie he’s going up against pimp slapped the f*** out of him at the other end.

So yeah, while I’m not ruling out getting out of the East with him, I could totally see him sinking us in a playoff series we probably should win. And I know there’s probably quite a few of us feeling the same way right about now.

This Markstrom means the one we're getting with average goaltending and giving up backbreaking goals at the worst time. It works in the regular season since some teams are bad enough to overcome goaltending or your offense shows up for the goalie but you can't expect the Devils offense to drop 4-5 goals nightly in a playoff game.

I don’t know much about James Nichols as a reporter and had no opinion of him before this, but now I’m gonna think twice before considering what he says because of that one completely and utterly stupid take.

The Leafs didn’t win because they were more physical or because no one responded by going after the old, disabled geezer that hit Jack.

The Leafs won because Stolarz and Markstrom giving up a super softy with 9 minutes left in regulation, in a game where him stopping that and getting a 1-0 win still would have been possibly the easiest shutout of his NHL career.

Alex Laferriere is from NJ and on our next opponent? Take him as a goal scorer if you guys want free money with how this week's going with Colton's GWG and Stolarz legacy game :laugh:
Picked one spot ahead of Nico Daws in 2020.

I wonder if we pick him if LA didn’t?

Attempted murder, now honestly, what is that? Do they give a Nobel prize for attempted chemistry?

So the devils only score on good teams because those teams are “tiptoeing” through the season…but this doesn’t apply to the devils when they have a game like last night. And for some reason Toronto wasn’t “tiptoeing” last night.

Seems you apply different standards from game to game and to the devils vs other teams in order to rationalize an extremely subjective opinion.
Watch what February and March look like and get back to me. The soft underbelly will be exposed shortly.

Team is softer than baby shit on a hot Alabama afternoon.

Google says similar to John Carlson where he didn't mind the Devils but liked the Bruins more growing up.
I thought Stevens did like the Devils and idolized Scott Stevens?

A lot of the Jersey guys liked either the Rangers or Flyers. Palmieri grew up a Rangers fan, but later tried to partly walk it back and say he liked the Devils too lol. Palms grew up with a lot of miserable years watching the Rangers, as they didn't make the playoffs after he was 6 years old until he was 15. And by the time he was 15. And by the time he was 15 I'm thinking he was more consumed with playing hockey and immersed in his own game than catching up with the Rangers getting swept by the Devils in their first playoff appearance since he was in Kindergarten.

I think the Van Reimsdyk's liked the Rangers.

Was asshole Tony D a Rangers fan? I think he's from Edison. Hopefully he wasn't a Devils fan, as we don't want or need him.

That makes no sense because they've beaten the defending Cup Champs twice who are the most physical team in the league, banking on them to be bad in a particular month is also super unfair considering most teams do have lulls in a particular part of the year. They aren't soft, it's the same shit we've said about the Devils last year is that they don't have a killer instinct in situations where they should. If you want to argue that then I'm all ears but not listening to this team being soft when they've literally lost games and put themselves in bad situations for responses.

They are top 5 in fighting majors and are top 10 in hits and are holding their own against the “heaviest” teams in the league.

DeAngelo is from Sewell, he grew up a Flyers fan but yeah you're right on Palmieri lol
