Tough year for him...was apparently crushed when the Habs dealt him, and now a goal-starved team like the Devils, don't even qualify him....guy got 13 points in 18 games down the stretch...he'll catch on somewhere as a third-fourth line type.

Devils didnt qualify because they are confident they will get him signed.

Dont think he hits the market unless we get a guy like Okposo

Lol you always qualify a guy you want to keep. That's the most stupid thing I've read in a while.

Or the team thinks that arbitration is riskier than free agency and is willing to keep player only on reasonable term.

Err what?

Option 1: Qualify him and still have confidence you can re-sign him. If not, at least trade his rights.

Option 2: Don't qualify him and you have like 1 day to re-sign him or you lose him for nothing.

How is that even a question.

Anaheim, Montreal and New Jersey all wanted DSP to be a Power Forward/Grinder. DSP wants to be a finesse player which he is not. Three NHL teams in three years says "bust".

Dsp didn't bust in NJ. They didn't qualify him because they didn't want dsp to have arbitration rights. Ray Shero is confident that a deal will be done.
