doubt it as USA Hockey wants a destination that will have majority of US fans there...still say go with Chicago, can't beat the hockey market here at all...

Are you sure? I though it was all about the $$$.

Anyway it wouldn't matter where in the US you hosted it there would probably be more Canadian than Americans regardless.

I know there have been quotes about this previously..I can name a few cities where this wouldn't be the case, and Minny would be one of them..

Detroit has never hosted it and will have a brand new arena to showcase. They have recently been good hosts for the MLB All Star game, Super Bowl, NCAA Final 4, and Winter Classic. I don't see how they do not get awarded the event.

Twin Cities:
2014 Hockey City Classic
2014 MLB All Star Game
2016 Stadium Series
2018 Super Bowl
2018 Frozen Four
2019 Final Four

We're not so bad, either. :)

Skipped a heart beat. Thought they'll bring red wings junior team to u20... wouldn't be too surprising after ****** the world cup.

You know, if that team was all-American and wearing Team USA jerseys, there would be no rule against it.

Minnesota is the best option I've heard so far. Hope they put in a bid. Xcel Energy Center and Mariucci Arena? If any way possible, that would be an amazing tournament setting.

It should absolutely be possible. The annual Mariucci Classic, which no one really cares about, would have to move. It could happen on 1/5 and 1/6 since the final games would be at the X. Obviously on the Wild side of town, they're okay with the schedule requirements.

Rene Faisel will select Detroit because that is where he can guarantee that it will be a Canadian tournament that is nominally held in the US. Buffalo redux, where Americans couldn't even get tickets to watch Canada vs. USA.

MSP, right? Like the airport code.
Well, no. MSP is Minneapolis-St. Paul. We call them the Cities but obviously Twin Cities and MSP are the same. A lot of people call Minnesota Minny. Minneapolis is pretty much always Minneapolis (or Murderapolis).

If Buffalo doesn't get it then I think the obvious choice is Detroit because of how close Windsor is, so the Canadian fans going can either take the Ambassador Bridge or the Detroit/Windsor Tunnel to and from the games.

And Florida???????????

Christmas snowbirds I guess but that's a long shot.

We have snowbirds here for like 8 months, not just for Christmas.

also, we're going to be hosting the Frozen Four for the second time next year, and Florida doesn't even have any NCAA teams - yet the first Frozen Four was still considered a resounding success and is why we're hosting again so soon.

Since locals would actually have a team to cheer for in the WJC, it would easily be a success as well. Not to mention Florida is a far more attractive destination for traveling fans from anywhere in the world than the WJC has ever seen.

Really not sure why anyone could possibly fathom that Florida would be a poor choice. The anti-southern bias of the hockey community is really tiresome sometimes.
