He is good on the PK. Ask him to use his brain at all and you are going to have a rough ride. Also really struggles with transition defense.

Holl was a whipping boy in Toronto, but he's a competent D-man. Very strong if he's on the 3rd pair, a little shaky if being relied upon in the top 4.
100%….. he was overplayed with responsibilities. If he plays within himself, he’s actually good. He just tried doing too much at times. Like Chiarot. Play him with Maatta and he should be fine.

I don't like it... But bad contracts for defense don't really mean shit in Detroit considering they're building it entirely on prospects.

Detroit just looking for plugs while their prospects develop.

Cap: need to spend to reach the floor
D-core: placeholders + veteran stability until Edvinsson, Wallinder, Johansson, Sandin-Pellikka etc. are ready to run the show

Why not sign someone like Erik Johnson at the same price, but less term then? Better player too.

This will be turn out to be a really bad contract. Holl is the type of guy you give 1x$2m because you need a little depth and could use a PK guy.

3 years and $10 million. My word…
