When he signed the contract I said it was a fair contract for both parties. Looks like I was wrong. It's a steal.

57% SA CF% since the all star break..........leads the whole team.

He's a bit of an unsung hero on this team.

He doesn't have that edge that guys like CK and Miller have. He doesn't have that magnetic personality Zucc has. He doesn't have the star power or resume of guys like Nash and MSL.

But he gets the job done and then some. He's been everything I could have asked this season. Really growing as a player despite being older than most guys are when they take a next step.

He is a master of the slapshot, a dying art in the hockey world. A good slapshot is beautiful to watch. He can slap a puck into the top corner like Gretzky did in his prime. It's amazing to see. His vision is also second to none on the team. He sets up teammates with scoring chances out of nothing.

Are you suggesting that the Islanders have a half a dozen centers who deserve over $5 million a year?

Together wit Kreider my favorite player. Very underrated. His contract is a steal. 5 million for a 60 point center with the cap going up? STEAL!

I think he *was* underrated, but he's getting his name out there. At the start of the season, we didn't view him as a top-6 center, now we all do. He was one of our concerns explaining the belief that we have weak centers. Now he's one of our stars explaining the belief that we have great centers.

He needs to repeat this season next year and the whole league will know he's a good player.

he's literally like our 5th or 6th best weapon....if not lower

that speaks volumes to the depth this team has.

As in goalscoring?

Because otherwise I'd disagree, he has been our most consistent player this season and his line has worked almost all the time. And he is a big reason for that.

Well, before this 60-point season, he has already had 2 very strong post-seasons with us. He is a clutch performer and he is still only 27.

Yeah he's basically the only Ranger that's dangerous with a slapshot from about the faceoff dots down (don't really see him take slapshots from further out so I don't know how useful he'd be as a power play trigger guy up top)

Granted the Isles have 6 centers better than Brassard, but on a crappy team like the Rangers, he and his 60 points are pretty good. First in assists, second in points on the Rangers. Great season.

One thing I noticed changing through this season was Brassard using his shot more, and doing less of those soft little high risk drop passes. The next revelation to me was that he has what I consider to be the best shot of any player on the team.

That is growing and improving your game.

He most definitely has the best slapshot. Maybe we should try him on the point on the power play.

I really liked how he was very consistent this season. I'd even go as far as saying he was our most consistent forward. Now hopefully he can continue his playoff success. If he improves there as well - wow!

Brass's slapshot is ridiculous, AV needs to find a way to get more use out of it.

Every now and then he'll take his angry pills in the morning. Love it when he plays with that edge.

Haha I was just going to post that too. He awesome when he is playing with that edge. Unlike other players (Nash, Girardi) who seem to let other players give them little cheap shots and they just skate away scared...Brassard goes right to them and says something and isn't afraid to get in their face.

Yeah, scored with it from the point today...

Feels a little like Richards. Real strong slapshot, not the most accurate but can score with it on an unscreened goalie. Needs to use it more.

I'd be reallllllly interested seeing him used more as the trigger man on the power play. Maybe his one timer isn't all that good though, can't really remember him using one before.

I hardly ever see him miss the net, to be honest.

He doesn't miss the net that's true, I was more saying he's not Ovechkin/Stamkos level (obviously). He's not gonna score 30 goals with his slapshot or something, but it is a weapon
