Why do you regret trading Gaborik? Unless you want to add him to this lineup then i understand but it would be impossible anyway. Fun to think about tho.

Kreider-Stepan-Gaborik
Nash-Brassard-Zuccarello
Miller-Hayes-MSL
Hagelin-Moore-Fast/Stempniak

Did i forget someone? That lineup is just scary

Because Torts basically the ran the guy out of town. I felt like gaborik didn't want to leave but torts wanted him dealt for more "torts guys" aside from the future cap issues.

Brassard helps ease the pain though.

He had great years under Tortorella and Gaborik sucked in 12-13 anyway. We won that trade clearly

Just a thought (curiosity and fantasy stand point), because it seems Stephan and Brass seemed to have flipped production levels this season who do you guys see going forward as the #1 center? Or is not even going to be either of these 2?

Stepan.

Stepan is producing at a point-per-game level this year. He's just missed 12 games, so Brassard has 6 more points.

Stepan is producing at a PPG pace, missed time with injury. Brass is on like a 70 point pace. Stepan also has selke caliber defense. Stepan is the clear #1.

Hmmm interesting. What I was looking at earlier was that outside a stretch of games after he had the mumps, Brass was pretty close to being a ppg as well and when I saw him playing with Nash I thought he may have switched roles for you guys.

we dont do traditional 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th line. 1st and 2nd are our 2 "first" lines. 3rd and 4th lines right now are similar lines as well that can be played in all situations. that changes when glass is in the lineup since he is so bad that the 4th line really is a 4th line.

So, I'm bumping this to say I'm sorry. I'm sorry Derick Brassard, I have doubted you. I thought signing him to that contract was a big mistake. I thought he would continue his 0.5 PPGish ways, while not contributing much else.

I was wrong. Brassard has been beyond awesome this year and his creativity is something to behold. You can see he's clearly having fun out there. He seems psyched to be playing for us, you can see that after every goal. He just loves the game, kind of reminds me of Vinny Prospal with some celebrations. Joy to watch a player having so much fun on the ice.

Thank you BrassGod.

Brassard was bumped down to the third line centering Hagelin and Fast. Stepan is now playing in between Nash and St.Louis on the top line how do you guys feel about that?

The lines are pretty ****** in general. Brassard needs more offense than that on his wing. I do want Stepan and Nash reunited for the long haul, though.

The lines have been a crap shoot lately. I thought that line was useless in the offensive zone.

Top three lines all get roughly same playing time under AV, so I am good with that.
Brass is also a staple on the #1 PP unit.
It was also good to get Nash away from Brass and Zucc IMO.

We got a lot of o-zone from the Brassard line but they really didn't create much. Hagelin and Fast aren't really goal scorers so Brassard goes to waste a lot.

Now, if Miller were available last night...

I could get behind that... Miller-Brassard-Stempniak?

I absolutely hated Brass centering Fast and Hags. I felt like it's a total wast of Brass's skill set. I think the biggest reason that the Brass, Zucc & Nash line stalled a bit was, it seemed like Zuccs was more interested in passing then shooting. They need him to shoot more.

brass needs 9 points in the last 30 games to hit 50 for the first time and 19 obviously to hit 60. hes on pace to get 65-66 points in 80 games this year.

Our center depth is looking great and all 3 still have room to improve.

Stepan is on pace for 71 points based on 82 games
Brass is on pace for 67 points based on 82 games
Hayes is on pace for 39 points based on 82 games

That is awesome.

Amazing numbers :)

If Hayes can stabilize at or near his current level of play, then yes, we have good center depth. But its not that long ago that the center position was our biggest weakness, so i would not call it great per see :)

By "ease the pain" I assume you mean "outscore favorite by 10 points so far this season, and also come with John Moore and a 3rd ."

Are people still harping on Gaborik? The season we dealt him he was awful, two seasons before that he was awful. He's older than Brassard, costs less, and plays a less important position. Brassard also outplayed him in the playoffs from the playoff action that Gabby saw here. The unfortunate part was Columbus ****ed us over by dealing him to LA only to have him help them make the finals and beat us, but on the Rangers he was great or awful with age and a tough contract. It was hard to know what you'll get from him year to year. Funny, Nash has also been on every other year, but this year he's awesome so won't dwell on that.

He was also concussed. I know Gaborik had injuries his second year too.
