Finland is on their way to battling Latvia to stave off relegation.

We could have a strong team next year but this team is going to make sure we will never see them
Denmark has had 2 chances and they've scored 2.

Yes 3-0 soon.

They really look defeated mentally based on body language. Baaaaaad signs all over, never mind the scoreboard.

Seriously though how is this happening? Our offense is an absolute mess. Our forwards are constantly facing 1 on 3s because there is no system. It's understandable that we won't be scoring at will, but we should be able to have some offense against Denmark. Brings back memoried from that Kapanen-led tournament.

When your goalie sucks as bad as Finlands the whole team plays so tentative because they are afraid every shot is going to go in.

:shakehead

Button is right, these players have been really successful at the U17s and U18s even after Laine, Puljujarvi, Aho. They had players like Juolevi, Heiskanen, Valimaki, Tolvanen, Saarijarvi, Vesalainen, Rasanen. They have the talent, they just aren't gelling together well enough and playing smoothly with speed. Seems like they are hesitating a lot.

[MOD] it is pretty tough to stay on top and win this thing 5 years in a row runs such as that, especially when you lose your best players like other nations do every year.

Finland is just plain horrible! Rautakorpi (the coach), Vehviläinen, Nättinen and especially Palmu being complete garbage. Looking really, really bad. Finland has ever looked this bad in junior hockey a few years ago when Jortikka was our coach. Just absolute garbage right now...

Heiskanen made a bad pass on the second goal. He doesn't seem like a clear-cut first rounder to me.

I blame the Finnish Ice Hockey Federation, this is what happens when you hire an old timer coach, whose best before date has passed years ago.

Oh well, all I'm hoping for in this tournament is that we don't get relegated. Gold in 2014 & 2016 is enough for me. ☺

This is true. There's no obvious leader to set the pace for them, and there doesn't seem to be enough cohesion or team spirit to make up for it. Mentality is everything in this tournament, and right now the Danes have us beat in that.

What Laine, Pulju and Juolevi did at 17y last year was amazing, something special.
That can't be expected as a norm.

Vesalainen, Tolvanen, Heiskanen, Valimaki, Vaakanainen are all 17y.
That's a lot of 17y players playing in this tourney in key roles.
Last year we had Aho, Rantanen, Saarela, Kapanen, Hintz as the vets, this years vets group is a lot worse and the goalie is still garbage which is a huge surprise :sarcasm:
