At the very least Finland should be able to beat Latvia.

I'm not sure about that. This is totally humiliating that some Denmark comes and takes win for us. Pate and the other guys shame eyes of their head if they watch how bad this team plays.

yeah, **** the babys we keep water and turn it to vodka
Haha thanks for a good laugh.

About Latvia, that's a totally different scenario. It's much easier to beat a favorite at the outset of a tournament like in the second game when cohesion is low. By the relegation games Finland's cohesion will be better, and improvements in cohesion tend to disproportionately help the side with more talent or skill. The relegation tournament is a best of three, so it will be significantly less prone to statistical outliers (such as a team winning while losing SOG 36-10). More cohesion on the Finnish side and a more favorable format will definitely favor Finland over the long run if it were to come to that. We'll know by the end of the day on the 29th.

It is worth noting that Slovakia get a day's rest before the Latvia game.

Ahhhh, reminds of the Jets board.

Poor Finns are missing Laine Pulj Aho. That line instantly makes them a medal contender

Exactly. Love to watch that line play.

This is just a ridiculous that team really lose to Denmark. And if Denmark have only 3 good chances then Veini Vehviläinen was once again terrible as usual. And if Finland had 36 shots, then there is very bad problems with finishing.

I'm genuinely worried that we might get relegated. This just awful to watch in so many levels..

Rather unlikely. Anyway, for us success in this championship is a nice bonus but what really matters is that do we produce, say 3-6 very talented and promising players in each age group, and I think we have easily that many in this year's team too. Of course last year was bit of an exception with such stellar offensive talent that we simply won't have most years.

Of course, now this team is in big difficulties, but it must be mostly coaching related - there is no way that they are as bad as these results show.

We seem to be one of the few countries that change the head coach every year.

And i agree, our troubles are mostly coaching related. That doesnt change the fact on anything we are experiencing in here.

I know NHL scouts are reading this so please don't draft any of the Finns in the first round they are just like the Niinimäki's of the early 2000's not like Laine, Aho and Barkov.:sarcasm:

But seriously how can a team with 5 potential first rounders suck so much? It can't be all on the coach.. Maybe the players just aren't as good as the hype.

For the most part it's a 19 year olds(and to some extent 18 year old) tournament. Late 1st round 1st time draft eligible guys don't dominate or even tend to do all that well. Draft eligible defenceman would have less of a noticeable impact I would think.

You'll see the Matthews, Laine, Puljujarvi, Nylander guys dominate, and I'm surprised Tolvanen hasn't done better. But it's not all that surprising 17 year olds aren't dominating or doing well.

If those same 5 guys are back in 2 years time(not sure if there are any late birthdays) then they'll be doing much better and Finland could win the thing again.

As i have seen Tolvanen is very far away from Laine, Pulju and Aho level. It's gonna take long time that he is ready to play at NHL.

By the way why Finland keep putting Vehviläinen to goal or even selecting Vehviläinen to the team? It's very sad story if we really don't have better option, than guy who have lost his game every single time when bets have raised.

Too tired to think right now. What will have to go wrong from here on for Finland to miss the quarter final?

This is breaks it down

They need more than just a win against the Swiss to get to the QF now. If they can't get any points from Sweden and Switzerland beats Denmark(or Sweden) then Finland is playing in the relegation side whether they beat Switzerland or not.

Shocking results. Finland with 0 points after 2 games.

Very happy for Denmark, love to watch the emotions they showed after the game. They fought hard. This group is going to be very tangled!

If Finland hadn't won 2 gold medals in the past 3 years I would've been more upset.

How does next years squad look in comparison? and is Juolevi eligible for it? will Aaltonen play?

Czech game looked already really bad. Looked like they didn't even want to go to the scoring areas, game speed felt way too slow but still sloppy with the puck. You can't play like that in NA-sized rink.

This one, I didn't actually watch. But win is always a win and well deserved. Congrats Denmark!

Santa Claus!

Finland is the Santa Claus for Underdogs. They to present points for Czech and Denmark ;).

Finland was slaughtered in comments, but the Czech game wasn't that bad in tape delay, as I expected from comments.

Now we outshot Denmark 36-10 and some say they weren't as bad as the reuslt.

I just feel there is some chance involved, but of course it's not good to lose two games.

They can still beat Sweden.
