He could hire a fulltime babysitter though, why would he be tired? Also, in some way, hockey isn't as bad as a 10 hour work day for being with a family, assuming your family's in your location, which they definitely should be. He could afford to get them a house right next to the rink if need be.

We have no idea if this is a thing or not for Gaudreau. But even if you have money you might have a problem with a colicky baby keeping you up at night. Some players prioritize co-sleeping over game readiness. It happens.

Tkachuk clearly proved he wasnt being carried
he was doing plenty for that line and wasnt a passenger

first season on a new team speaks for itself, how did his line mates from calgary do?

not surprised to gaudreau's biggest fan boy in here making excuses for him

Johnny Gaudreau was always the better player in Calgary when they were on the same team

Tkachuk was younger and continues to develop in the newer better environment

You don’t need to be a fan boy to see that but there is always a know it all moron

They have no homegrown talent so they will continue to fail.
For 20 years they have also thought gooning up was the way to success, that was another failure.
Lindgren, Miller, Schneider on the blue line.
Kakko, Lafreniere, Chytil, Cuyle, Kreider. Othmann soon. Shesty in net.

Rangers also drafted and developed guys like Staal, Girardi, Dubinsky, Callahan, Stepan, Del Zotto, Hagelin, Lundqvist, and so on who had long nhl careers.

You're obviously new to hockey and don't know what you're talking about.

I think it's 100% home life based. I see those of you saying there are ways to simply work around the kid and make it a non-issue, but not everyone who has kids does so with the intention of simply working around them.

If there is one player who has shown that family is prioritized over work, it's Gaudreau. I imagine he'll be much improved next year. And tbh this is not the worst timing in the world for the Jackets.

Gaudreau may not like the spotlight on him playing in a Canadian market but maybe that's what he needs. Just speculating

The guy is 30 years old with a lot of hockey under his belt. Regardless of what some may say or believe, he was never elite to begin with so it's very likely his best games are behind him. I'm not saying he's washed up, but he's not the player whose worthy of that contract and certainly not going to be the guy who leads his team to the promised land. People need to stop expecting these 30+ year old players to be who they were in their mid 20s. These guys aren't robots.

Best ES season in 30 years is definitely not elite.

Team stat followed that up with a minus 33 next season, my 2 cents he was the man in Calgary with the entire spotlight on him, loved and adored which kept him motivated, leaves town for Columbus with no fanfare no one cares mentally tuned out from Johnny Hockey to Johnny Sucky JMO.

We see this over and over again. Player has a career year going into UFA and then they sign their big contract and pack it in. As a fan, the NHL would be much better if they got rid of guaranteed contracts.
Didn't he get a child a year ago? That has probably been keeping him up many nights for the past year. That's why GMs shouldn't sign expensive contracts to players who have a lot of kids or newborns.

Gaudreau being this controversial and divisive on HFBoards is crazy. People have been praying on his downfall for almost a decade.

Anyway, everyone knew the Columbus move would go sideways. They’ve never been a serious organization and they had no idea what to do after he fell into their lap.

Hiring Babcock is their move to lift themselves up from the basement? Really? Having Gaudreau flank Boone Jenner? I never thought he makes it to year 3 of that contract in Columbus, and he’s certainly on track to be traded
