just a quick question

what the wings draft or need in the first round this year a FORWARDS OR A DEFENSE

Big Center is our number 1 need.

The only guys in the system that look like legit NHL centers are Sheahan and Jarnkrok. Dats may be gone soon and Z won't be a center for much longer in his career. We need guys to replace them.

Number 2 need is a power forward type player.

This is not to say the Wings won't take a dman with their 1st pick but I think the drop off would have to be pretty significant for them not to lean towards the forward.

a centre is without a doubt the #1 need

after that its size and grit upfront hopefulyl also couple with talent

after that a big mean stay at home type dman

but most likely it will occur like this
-Detroit trades the #17 pick to Montreal for the #24 pick(or whatever the Habs pick is) and the #34 pick(nashville 2nd rounder)
-Montreal picks a legit almost ready NHL player and we take two smaller, high hockey IQ project players

this is not a knock at all on KH, not at all, just a very reasonable expectation of what i see happening at the draft

BPA, you should always go this way, especially since we don't rush prospects. Drafting based on need has some serious pitfalls, if you don't plan on pushing them through in a hurry.

The trade down with MTL is a very Detroit kind of move. I probably won't cry about it unless Wennberg or Erne are still on the board at 17 or 18.
