Absent was 2006 first-round pick David Fischer, whose days as a Canadiens prospect look to be done.

Gauthier said the team does not expect to make an offer to the University of Minnesota defencemen. They will get a compensatory draft pick if they let Fischer go. The pick should be 50th overall in 2011, or the 20th pick of the second round, as Fischer was selected 20th overall in his draft year.

"We’ve advised his representative that we probably won’t make him an offer and he’ll become an unrestricted free agent on Aug. 15," Gauthier said. "We reserve the right to change our mind on that, but it looks like that’s what’s going to happen."

But yeah…i’m full of shit and don't know what I'm talking about.
Wait what are you doing , presenting actual written facts on hf ……. This might cause some to implode hahahahah. I say no more facts , let’s live on hearsay !

If you believe entire careers can be ruined because of the single act of rushing players, then you must believe the opposite is also true, that the single act of taking it slow, can also ruin them.

whhhy?

this is pure nonsense and not true. rushing players can ruin them, while taking things slow does not, can both be true statements.

why the heck do you think those things are mutually exclusive? absurd logic,

More hearsay, I say!
I heard Pierre Luc Dubois wanted to become a hab and this is why he is struggling with LA . If he comes home hé becomes a 40 goal 80 points minimum scorer and would be a bargain .

His time in Columbus, peg and la only proves how much he wants to come home . Come on Hughes make it happen :)

The problem is it's impossible to prove. That's what i hate about this stupid debate. It's on the same level as this :

There's no way to know for sure the reasons why a kid did not work at the NHL level. There's so many possible reasons. He's not skilled enough (ignored by too many fans and media). He's not mature enough outside the ice (my direct neighbors is 47 and still act like a brainless teenager). The coach did not like him and gave him limited TOI and opportunities and he went to Europe and dominated here and never came back. He got a serious injury in his first 3 seasons and never fully recovered. Mental health problems (way too often overlooked). The guy got abused by a coach in junior and can't cope with it and keep it for himself. Etc ....

Yes rushing some players can hurt them. And yes keeping guys in the AHL for many years without giving them time in the NHL to evaluate what they must improve can hurt a player too. But no way to know for sure if it's the reason they did not make it. I firmly believe that someone who got what it takes to be a front man will make it eventually if you are patient.

The fact you think one is true and the other can't be is what is actually absurd

Seriously, someone should intervene and cut both of you out on this subject. The thread has become unreadable and unbearable, all at once.

Talk by private message on this subject, please, and stop polluting the thread just trying to be right.
Apologies but I was participating in a discussion about development as it relates to Reinbacher, I was then asked to produce information which I did, only to be talked too like I'm lesser then.

Sorry to have temporarily derailed the thread, but I just match energy.

If they pay half his salary!!

It really would be incredible if we get a really high draft pick this year.

Hopefully Higjes aggressively tries to make this happen. Move the goalie that is most likely to win the most games this year. Move Savard by the TDL. I want to keep a healthy Monahan, but if you think you can finish bottom two by moving him, you have to do it.
we have to move moneyhands, as yes we want to finish bottom 2 this year. I'd love to send Allen to any team of his choosing, and dare I say Galley might be "appealing" with a sweetener to a team looking for a playoff warrior? im not sure how long he can keep this up..lol

I think we have a great team to tank 1 more year, and thankfully there are not 5 teams playing historically bad to win the lottery (Bedard). We are just a very young team with a strong middle 6 and a beautiful crop of Ds making their way in. Hugo is doing it correctly, picking up Rainmkr might just be the pivotal move that solidified our D for a decade,. We still need to Draft a 1C, and hopefully this year we get him.

I think he looks better than Nemec and Jiricek. This guy play the game like Miro Heiskanen. I think people will be surprised about his offensive game.
Since nobody is watching this kid playing except looking at cherrypicked video posted on this forum, let me show you his last 2 games:
Lugano - Kloten 3:1
LUG 3-1 EHC | Lugano - EHC Kloten
00:56 Reinbacher out of nowhere and without any pressure fumbles and loses the puck in NZ and Lugano scores 2-0

Langnau - Kloten 5-2
LAN 5-2 EHC | Langnau Tigers - EHC Kloten
1:10 Reinbacher defends his slot by waving the stick on the ice while the small dude enters it and scores for 2-1 like some pylon is standing in the slot
3:37 Reinbacher decides to show his skating skill, does the double pirouette and serves the puck to opponent who puts it in the empty net for 5-2

In a reality, this kid is in a terrible slump right now but the whole team plays really bad. He's just sinking down with the team.

Not sure why there's so much talk about development in a Reinbacher's thread....it's fine that he plays in Europe one more year. Problem now is that it,s a shitty team....but can you actually make a european team trade a kid like that? Who wants to acquire a kid who isn't ready to shine, struggles and will leave next year?

Reinbacher compared to every other high 1st round pick we made, RIGHT NOW, the debate is UNIQUELY about drafting...not development. As of today.

I don't know. Kid plays horribly after the injury.
Those kind of mistakes he makes and considering they brought Beaulieu...I'm scared his icetime will be reduced as time passes.
Kloten's coach doesn't have any reason to develop him for us. He must avoid the relegation and Reinbacher's defensive plays aren't helping the coach right now.

it's all good... relax - Im sure he is focusing on practice and improvements to his reads... mistakes will happen, the more he makes and LEARNS in Euro the more prepared he will be when he comes to NA next year. He'll play in the AHL and get even more experience. By year 3 he might be able to crack the lineup.
I doubt he is too concerned about "points" as they are meaningless in the grand scheme of things.

If anything, he should be brought in next year to play in Laval.

His game isn't basic. He's one of the best defender Ive seen at finding the net, it's an invaluable skill to have. He's great.
We didn't just draft him to be great defensively. We have more than enough d prospects that can do that.

We need a top pairing two way dman
