This is a clown show. Quinn and the boys are mixing up the lines like it’s a f***ing hut team.
Only the KZB-line is still together, even though they haven’t done shit ever since Quinn got back.

If I were Kaapo I’d be mad as hell to be replaced with a 27-yo midget who has played less games than Kakko in his whole career.

just to be clear he should simultaneously mix up the lines and not mix up the lines?

So which is it? Do you want him to make line changes or keep the status quo? I ask because it basically feels like you are ranting at both.

I do not think it is punishment. I think it is being done to actually get more time to the third line and hopefully get someone like Lafreniere going. Do I want him to be moved down? Of course not. But let's see how much time he actually spends there the next game and how much ice time he gets in general.

As good an idea as that would be, I'll believe it when I see it. If they don't get right around 10 minutes per game, every game, I'll be legitimately shocked.

I mean it was obvious that letting Fast walk was a disaster. For a lower contract than anyone would have predicted. Made no sense. Gorton gets to hide behind the scenes while Quinn serves as the whipping boy. It's really disgusting. This thread should honestly be locked because the discourse has gotten so toxic and quite frankly, unfair. Quinn's messaging today was very solid but some are blind haters.
How? Panarin is well beyond ppg again and Strome is very nearly ppg and having his best scoring year ever. Why do they need Fast on that line so badly? Kakko, who is hugely important to the future of this team, was playing there and playing very well. If we can let an important kid play with vets who are having career year because he’s actually earned it - why aren’t we? If we sign Fast again we have no room for any of the kids in the top 6 at all for the foreseeable future.

If that’s the case then fine, I really hope you are right.

I could also see him switch Kakko and Blackwell after 3 shifts too. He does that shit all the time

I still can’t get over how often Quinn scrambles the lines. We’re all up in arms over tomorrow’s lineup and you just know he’s going to throw them into the blender again 10 minutes in.

He really doesn't. It's just because everyone here watches the Rangers every day. I follow every teams line combinations every single day because it's basically my job and I can assure you almost every team does the same thing.

Thanks. Is a recent phenomenon with NHL coaches?

My take on Kakko. He’s been a bit snake bit but when talking about how his game has evolved from last year to this years he’s gone from being terrible defensively to good in one year which is kind of remarkable. He’s not exactly great defensively as he’s not ready for the penalty kill IMO but with the strides he’s made in one year he could get there. He’s also had a lot more chances to score this year but for whatever reason the production numbers don’t show it. I expect him to get there though but maybe not this year. A critique I would have of him is he’s too easily knocked off balance and he wipes out and it’s kind of like Brendan Lemieux where he’ll be too long getting back into the play because of how awkward his falls are. That’s one reason why I don’t think he’s ready for the pk yet. Still I think he’s going to be a great player—just have to be patient.

No facts, please. Stay on narrative.

Just want to put up my hand and say Quinn is doing a good job in a tough situation. Rebuilds are rough. We all see the talent but when it’s doesn’t translate to wins and playoffs, who gets blamed? The coach. It’s all pretty academic but I believe very few coaches would have us even this close to the playoffs along with the kids developing.

Now you can’t tell me that this bad luck is not 100% Quinn’s fault. My bad, it’s actually Gordon’s for bringing a coach who brought bad luck: Zibanejad’s covid, Panarin’s LOA, Shesterkin groin, Chytil and Trouba’s hands. :sarcasm:

There's a context to this observation too. Quinn never mixes up the KZB line, even when it sucks 5 on 5 (frequently lately) and one or more of their players are taking the night off. If Quinn used the KZB line in his mix up rotation it would help the kids out more instead of choking them behind the big guns.

Quinn has been around for how long and

- the transition game is still sh*t,
- he rides his big guns to the max and hopes they come up big for him, and hopes for the best out of the rest RATHER than develop an actual TEAM (he doesn't know how to).
- the PP rotation is a joke (see above)
- he had to have a real coach brought in to teach him basic D,
- his man management sucks - despite being touted as a "great communicator" whatever that means
- his in game adaptations are not exactly stellar
- the team played much better as a team under Knoblauch, when Quinn was far, far away - whatever the PR/Spin dept. says

etc.

But yeah, I get it, Quinn has a career and dreams too. Maybe he wants to be the big gun behind Boston's bench one day. It's understandable. He is also a miserable fit for the NYR at this point in time.

False narrative. Panarin leads their forwards in 5v5 TOI/Game...29th in the league. Zibanejad leads them overall at 15th.

Not true. Already posted the data.

- he had to have a real coach brought in to teach him basic D,

It's a bad thing that he brought in a good defensive coach?

- his man management sucks - despite being touted as a "great communicator" whatever that means

Don't know what this means.

Fari

- the team played much better as a team under Knoblauch, when Quinn was far, far away - whatever the PR/Spin dept. says

Irrelevant and variance based.

etc.

And the might well. That will depend on the flow of the game and how they are performing. I am stating my belief as to the "why" something is being done.

He absolutely does and that could well be. Like I said, a lot will depend (I believe) on how all the lines start to play and how the game is flowing.
