Did Chytil get hurt? Is there a reason he only played 12 minutes this game or is it just Quinn being Quinn?

Lafreniere and Kakko 13 minutes each.
Gets zero pk time and not sure if he even got the garbage pp time the second unit gets??? and just off top of my head there was probably 16-18 min of special teams play.
He played in the ot and made a bull of a play to get to the puck in the Flyers zone. At least I think it was overtime or was it the third?

Does anyone know if there is a stat that counts goals scored off of broken plays vs. goals scored off of setups (cycles, rushes, etc.).

This would be hard to nail down because “broken play” is somewhat subjective, but I’m curious if there is a way to measure the “Quinn has no plan in the offensive zone” narrative.

We score on the rush but I'd say it's equivalent to a guy with a batting .200avg and hitting 30HR's with 280Ks. It's all or nothing. We struggle to transition out of our zone cleanly or support the puck. We're sloppy. We're semi-decent converting on turnovers in the neutral zone. Established O-Zone time is horrendous, 5v5 and PP. That's the gameplan most people bring up, Stagnant Perimeter Possession

there are some stats for 'Rush' plays. We should petition Vally or CSA to post here... :) but it becomes obvious if you just watch the puck carrier and where/what his options are and/or how its executed.

I mean, it’s obvious to me too but I feel like everything is measured nowadays and I’d like to see some stats to backup the obvious.

A couple things about the Flames and Sutter. Calgary’s a veteran team. I also don’t look at them as a realistic contending team now or in the next five years. Not a big fan of Sutter either but people should keep in mind what an easy gig this is for him living just up the road in Viking Alberta.

I'm assuming the Quinn Crew will be bounced in the off-season. Unless brass is trying to keep him around for an Eichel type move.

I hate uninspired perimeter hockey. It's really hard to watch this team come out flat ever start and with no motor.

Sutter was only going to coach for Calgary.

But the point is change is good and it needs to be made. The bandaid needs to be ripped off. And I am getting tired of there always being someone finding a reason why this guy and that guy isn’t the right fit for this team. Who is the right guy?? Who is that perfect coach? The bottom line is you need an experienced coach to take over here. Even if that coach fails, you cannot let this go on any longer. This team has NO IDENTITY. They have NO CONSISTENCY. The development of their young players is either NON-EXISTENT or STAGNATING. Jack Hughes has 14 points this season. Nothing groundbreaking but still more than Kakko and Lafreniere. You mean to tell me the Devils and Hughes are so much better than the Rangers and Kakko/Lafreniere??? Our PP is ABYSMAL. Its a detriment to the team because it swings momentum in the other direction.

This coach has zero control over this team. Its time to pull the plug.

It’s a disgrace

It is. Starting to get tired of it. Going on too long now.

here's the thing with DQ for me.

I don't think there's anything he can do about our 2 biggest problems this year. Zibanejad becoming a corpse and the covid list/injuries/espionage derailing our roster playing full games together. No amount of strategy can do anything about that.

However, I don't want to sound crass but I literally don't give a f*** that this team is winning games, because it's on the back of the top 6. Cool. I already knew they were good. I didn't need this season to prove that to me. Lafreniere and Kakko are breaking my f***ing heart this year because not only are they not on the score sheet (honestly isn't entirely their fault), they're so borrrrrringgggggg. No electric moves or high end plays. They're just generic players. For the first few games re: Laf, that was really good to hear but it's gotten old. This is twice now that a consensus, universally agreed upon game breaking talent walked onto a roster where they had plenty of support and completely flopped. I'm tired of hearing that it's their games, or they were too hyped, or that they aren't good enough skaters. The entire f***ing hockey world didn't get it totally wrong twice in a row. And you know what? If there's even a chance that getting rid of DQ will ignite him I'd f***ing fire him, rehire him, then fire him again to do it. DQ is not nearly special enough to be exempt from the witchcraft we apparently need to pull off to have a top pick succeed. God it's so f***ing draining. And there are gripes with their games. Lafreniere is extremely lazy without the puck. Kakko seems to get triple teamed whenever he has it and no one can figure out why. Laf hasn't had chemistry with anyone on the roster and he's been tried with literally everyone. Find a f***ing answer for god's sake. This isn't botched defensive coverage or missing assignments. This is coachable. I'm not watching these players and coming away with the impression that they are talentless clowns.

Against what fans want, Quinn's job is to win games, in interest of the organization and self preservation. And because of that young players are not going to get opportunities that we all clamor for because the team has an entire top 6 that is better than all of them right now. He's not going to change the powerplay. He'll keep running the same f***ing overloaded RHS bullshit with no one in front until he gets fired cause that won games at some point and I guess two talents that basically need to succeed for this team to be worth a flying f*** developing at the expense of a POWERPLAY THAT ALREADY SUCKS just isn't f***ing worth it to him.

I don't thin this team would be a playoff contender without Quinn but to me making the playoffs didn't matter in the first place. You can go on and pretend that the two top picks are not extremely disappointing all you want and that our top 6 is carrying the water but if that continues we're no better than what we were when we weren't good enough. Christ.

This pretty much sums up where I'm at too. The losses don't concern me as much as the lack of production for our young forwards does. I thought Laf was playing really well and just unlucky 5-10 games ago. but he's seemed to regress as the last few weeks have gone on.

But I will say, I don't think people are going to be happy if we bring in the Gallant/Julien/NHL Vet Coach rotation either. Because they're not going to spoonfeed Laf, Kakko, Chytil, Krav 20 mins a night of creative play. You're going to get nights of them benched and Howden/Rooney inexplicably playing a lot.

The mentality of most of these coaches is effort > talent. Its not just Quinn. I don't think firing him is going to change that as quickly as people want.

To me it's not that they want spoonfeeding of minutes. I'd agree that besides the PP time, Kakko and Laf get a fair amount of ice time. They just........do nothing and there's no discernable reason why. That's why this is so frustrating to me. Kakko made some nice plays last year but he'd skate for 10 seconds and be gassed. I understood it. This year I don't. They're just generic player A and generic player B.

I agree that there are coaches that are just as bad with muh vets and muh grinders, Julien being easily one of the worst offenders of that in hockey.
