We are ready now. Panarin, Zibanejad, Kreider, Trouba are in their primes and making a lot of money. Gonna 4 straight years out of the playoffs. And he’s doing a shit job with the #2 and #1 overall picks. Gonna wait till we miss 7 years in a row again like 98-04? Wait until Laf and Kakko are 25 years old before they finally “break out”? Zero reason to keep this guy.
And they said that New York fans could not handle a rebuild and wouldn’t have the patience....

There was no expectation this team was a contender this year. Come on.

You have not seen improved play from Kakko? Buch? Fox? Lindgren? Miller? Lafreniere?

Kakko has 4 points in 19 games.

Lafreniere has having probably the worst D+1 season for 1OA pick ever production-wise.

Miller has had more bad games than good.

Buchnevich is 26.

Fox is a franchise talent and Lindgren plays every minute with him. If you wanna give that to Quinn, fine, but it's still more bad than good.

We've had four top-10 forward picks since 2017 and all of them have had comically bad outcomes -- Kakko's rookie year, Lafreniere's rookie year, Kravtsov's heart-rate shitshow, Andersson's everything. Something is wrong here. If it's not Quinn, tell us what it is.

I for one expected this team to be a contender this year. I must be totally delusional and from following this team and hockey for 45 years I have obviously learned nothing. I expected us to be in the playoffs nothing less. Didn't expect a cup. The "rebuild" didn't just begin, we are two major draft hauls and the third year in. Is this a 5 year rebuild? 7 year? We have a window to perform with a blend of lower cost draft talent and accompanying pieces. We are SQUANDERING it. If you all are cool with that then great.

It's KZB. They're a clique and being mean girls to everyone else

After beating NYI 5-0, Washington 4-2, Washington 4-1, BOS 6-2 and then NJ 6-1, 6-3 back to back, we were contenders after each of those games.

But when we lose 3-2 we are bottom feeders.

I'm talking before the season.

No cap space.
Toughest division.
Youngest team in the league.
Questionable D.
No depth.

Anyone that expected us to be challenging for a playoff spot was planning on everything going perfectly.

Our window hasn't even opened yet. How are we squandering anything? Next year there are expectations of making the playoffs. This year was another developmental year considering everything going against us.

If we were 31st in the league but Kakko and Lafreniere were on pace for 45-50 points instead of 17 and 22 respectively (over 82 games) I'd be a lot happier than I am now.
Idk man lol. You'd have a bone to pick Im sure. :naughty:

Today was a great game no doubt. One of the best of the year, reminiscent of the 5-0 Islanders game early in the year.

But ultimately hard to get too pumped up as long as as Lafreniere and Kakko continue to stay off the scoresheet and continue to have historically poor seasons from a production standpoint. It may be a bit dramatic but their development should be the #1 priority...if they both don't develop into elite scoring threats, nothing else matters. The rebuild will in all likelihood completely fail...all the points from Strome and Buch be damned. Them each getting so little PP time in a game the NYR had 5 pps and went 0-for-5 is hard to square.

Yeah but Rooney got powerplay time because he played hard and had intentions.

It's really frustrating that neither are producing, I really can't understand how both have been struggling so badly to create offense.

They look like square pegs in round holes. Not at all on the same page as the rest of the top Ranger players (Kreider, Zib, Buch, Strome), even if you can tell the individual talent is there. I look at the coaching, but I also wonder about the culture in the club.

OK Boomer, everything is on course. Quinn is an amazing coach and getting everything we can expect out of the youngsters. In 2025 we are gonna rock this league.

Don't forget Kravtsov is coming over for part 2. Can't wait to watch me some Kravtsov on the 4th line with Brett "Gretzky" Howden.
