You have to admit that he does get results.
By what measures is another convo entirely..

I'm not against a coaching change, however unlikely it is at this point in the season, but to think that another guy is going to come in and fix what ails this team just doesn't seem very realistic to me. Just feels like people are attaching themselves to a name. Any name that's not Quinn.

Think Kennan is available?

Can someone explain to me what Gallant has done or what mystical skills he possesses that's going to make players like Zib snap out of a historic funk or get guys back from the IR quicker? What is so special about a guy who gets fired a year after taking a team to the Stanley Cup finals?

This would be relevant if Zibanejad and injuries were the only issue with this team.

I don't understand the need to make a ton of excuses for Quinn. Hes been terrible INDEPENDENT of these things this year.

We can talk about how horrible his usage of Zibaenjad has been this season though.

I agree/ disagree but can't keep beating the DQ thing to death.
That said..Martin is behind the scenes and seeing things first hand.
While by far NOT my first choice for HC, he does have a track record and system that has competed in this league for some time.

The team has already responded to his defensive scheme.

Back against the wall and with limited options.. He's the obvious choice for now.

Changes need to be made STAT if we're going to save this season..

Quenneville last year: 35-26-0-8
Quinn last year: 37-28-0-5

You're right. Truly a an indictment against Quinn's coaching abilities.
I don't feel strongly about Quinn but in Quenneville's case he literally had Bob throwing games nightly.

Every single player on this team is competitive AF.

I'm waiting for the day they take it upon themselves to crush everyone and then watch DQ take all the credit.
Epic f***ing bullshit lol

No excuses, I already said I'm cool with a coaching change. I'm just asking what's so special about Gallant. And if you don't think that Zib being a quarter of the player he was last year and all the injuries aren't directly related to their record, I don't think you're being objective

They were never winning the Cup this year anyway, this doesn't have to be some dramatic move that happens now. I'd rather they identify the right coach, not one who just happens to be available now, and go get him.

Totally get it but I think they DO need to be competitive this year and I agree on coaching but Martin is already in house.
Why do we always have to wait for the right move and end up settling for the alternative instead of just making the right, common sense move in the first place?
It's the definition of taking one step fwd, 2 steps backwards which is completely counter-productive to say the least.

JG is notorious for sitting on his hands at this point.

He needs to be way more proactive IMO..

This is a great point. Personally I think Sullivan is the right next move for this team. He literally checks all my boxes, accomplished coach, knows how to develop young players, has cultivated a great culture in Pitt, has a similar accountability mindset as Quinn but actually has the track record to back it up, etc... but let’s say the Rangers agree with me. Is the play here to wait it out with the Pens and sacrifice another few seasons( if it takes that long) or give Martin the interim tag now and see how things shake out with the Pens. I’d go second option but your point about not waiting for the ideal move is on the mark in my mind.

I'm not sure if it's a matter of him sitting on his hands or maybe he just doesn't share our opinions on is coach?

We think the same way my man :thumbu:

But I think we need to end this shit now and not wait any longer.
As it is, we're going to have to wait for this team to adhere to a completely different system.
Let's get it going already..

Well then I have to believe that we have more common sense than him.
Slats sure bailed out out at the right time.
He did us dirty leaving us with this f***ing guy..

I'm concerned about Quinn, not angry. What I want to see more than anything is this team healthy and playing together for 15-20 games.

I don' want Gallant. I'm fine with seeing what Martin could do. Maybe he could pull a Rick Bowness with this team.

Exactly. This has been my fear for over the past year and a half. This is completely wasted time.
