I'm thinking the Caps game might be the final nail in the coffin for DQ.
If not then just before the back to back games against Ruff and the Swamp Rats

@Edge has said Quinn isn’t even on life support yet, and Brooks’ latest article basically confirmed that. They are waiting until the offseason.

Hey.. Hopefully they manage to pull out a few wins here but if not, for a team that talks a good game in accountability, I can't see how/ why they would just be content to let this season go down the tubes.

Their goal has been to make the playoffs all along so something has to give sooner or later

In a shortened season ravaged by a pandemic, a top pick is probably the best avenue at this point.

Going for that Luke Hughes so they can market the shit out of Devils-Rangers "The Hughes rivalry" for the next decade

I think people need to give the covid excuse a rest already.
Not only is every team in the league playing under the same circumstances but the Devils just ran us out of the building..

As far as the season goes, I have to disagree.
This team has the talent, they just need to be pointed in the right direction and the fact that this circus continues is a crime to the original six.

Why does it take so long to recognize the obvious and nip it in the bud?

There's patience but then there's also stupidity unless of course.. You're tanking

You know what.. I'd even accept this right now and if they fail so be it but at least it's worth a try.

Switch Quinn and Martin's roles right now and make Martin the HC and DQ an assistant coach.

They’re the youngest team in the league and largely haven’t played hockey over the past year. But yeah, that once in a lifetime situation should be given a rest. If you can’t get your head out of your rear end regarding impacts, no wonder why you think competing and tanking are the only binary choices with a team that is still technically in a rebuild. (Psssst, one that isn’t being accelerated anytime soon thanks to that uncontrollable thing you want to give a rest)

As odd as it sounds I agree, The Rangers not being good this year probably saves them from building around the older players and more around the younger. Which is what they should have been doing instead of this nonsense extending players until they are 34-35

No offense but that's why their AHL affiliates very existence is for..

No offense taken or given, yet Panarin, Kreider are 8-10 year older than Chytil thru Laf, was there ever really going to be a long overlapping prime year thing there where everything was going to go well?

Again.. They've straight up shown that they can be a very formidable team as currently constructed.
I'm not expecting them to be world beaters but they should be slightly above 500.
I don't see that as being an unreasonable expectation

I agree they should be better than they have been, I attribute that to many things though. Everything from how the team is built to coaching to the players to covid(and effects of outside of it itself) to other stuff has an effect.

They suck, yet my point in my response initially , it may be better for them that they do now instead of finding out later, like it would have been better if they knew that last trade deadline.

Quinn needs to go. Even if he does not deserve all of the blame, he needs to go. You cannot fire 23 players. The team is not responding. They are not performing. They look dead. They look defeated. And the Coach looks just as defeated, with no answers, no energy. He doesnt know how to fix this. You cannot allow this to continue. It is going to poison the well.

The in-game decisions are horrific. Gauthier disappears every game. Hardly plays and he drives the net the most of any player on this team, willing to shoot the puck. Lafreniere on the other hand hardly shoots the puck. He also tends to disappear on the bench in the 3rd period when we are down goals and need scoring. He is our #1 pick... play the kid. Down a goal yesterday, Kakko was our best player, not fed enough minutes. He should have been getting an abundance of ice time. The PP has been a complete failure, but nothing changes, other than 1 guy getting rotated out of the PP1 unit. They dont change the approach to get more pucks on net, taking advantage of being up a man. He bumped Lafreniere up to PP1 but then panicked and put Strome right back on that unit after just a couple failed PPs. Strome is terrible.

I mean these are just a few examples. There are so many more.

Losing 5-6 in a row would change things pretty quickly though.
Yes, but also, in a shortened and potentially could-be-cancelled season like this one...I think they'll just do what they did with AV and ride it out until the end and let DQ go if no playoffs.

The scheduling as a whole is f'd, and who knows what next season will be like.

I just honestly don't see the team firing the head coach mid-season unless it's catastrophically off the rails, like OTL 6-1 every game for two weeks straight.

This would make the whole organization look clueless , Quinn needs to be fired now. This season can still be salvaged , and I don't even mean POs I mean looking like and playing like a professional hockey team. Dream scenario Quinn get canned and Gerard Gallant is hired.

When a team finished how they did last year and starts the season like they have, it’s time to make a change.

As others have said, you can’t fire an entire roster. He may not be entirely at fault, but a majority is. When a team looks as unprepared and lethargic, that is on the coach. Last night was just an abomination. It looked like guys just didn’t know what they doing on the ice.

I just don't understand what happened. Quinn used to be a fiery guy.

Things changed when Ruff left and/or JD joined. Was Ruff really running the show? Yes, his 'defense' sucked but the offense was clicking. We were never out of ANY game. The team had fight in them.

Now, we just look like we're sulking way too often.

Fire Oliver and get a competent offensive mind. If Quinn is that important for development.
