Strome had the third most minutes among forwards. Johnson third most among D, over Lindgren. Kakko played 11. Chytil 12. Gauthier 10. Lemieux 5. It’s hard to expect much from these guys when the coach won’t trust them to play, and when the game is 4-0 out of reach, you might as well let them play.

Can't underestimate the importance of a good coach. Look at Barry Trotz. I mean aside from Barzal, they have no stars on their team. I mean who the f*** are Brock Nelson, Anders Lee and Ryan Pulock? Random f***ers who wouldn't even be recognized on the street if they wore their own jerseys. But Trotz gets the most out of them and has them overachieve.

I'm so f***ing jealous that the Islanders have a coach like Trotz and we have a guy who is in wayyyyy over his head in Quinn.

Exactly. And while Kakko wasted nunerous chances and wasnt anything special, atleast he was visible and was able to generate something.

What did Buch do? Strome?

Panarin was also bad.

Yet it's always these young guys who suffer. Crush their confidence even more

Quinn just said Islanders are well coached. Thank you for admitting that you Rangers are not well coached.

Pulock and Nelson are actually 1st round picks, but yes that is exactly right.

Probably not the best idea for such a young team to have a coach that's pretty inexperienced himself.

The lack of preparation has persisted through the Quinn era and I'm not sure that's going to change in year 3 of his tenure.

yeah and not just the head coach but also 2 of his assistants as well are very inexperienced.

Fox came from a different system and stepped right in looking good. Same for Lindgren.

DeAngelo developed in a couple different systems and was always supposed to be a stud. Did he take steps here? Yes, but how much of that is natural progression with maturity and experience and how much is coaching received in this organization?

Buch has continued to progress under DQ, but he was progressing every year anyway, so ditto DeAngelo, how much is a young player developing along their natural arc and how much is the coach?

Chytil hasn’t really made tangible strides. Kakko will obviously develop but got 11 minutes tonight. Howden had a great game, but hasn’t exactly blossomed under Quinn despite the opportunities given. Lemieux came here looking like he could have third line potential but has basically stagnated or regressed from when we picked him up. The decision to go with Miller rather than DeAngelo/Trouba or Smith may have been a poor judgement. Shesterkin did all his developing overseas. Zbad it’s the same thing, he became a man and started reaching his potential. Did Quinn have anything to do with it? Maybe, maybe not.

There are players Quinn MAY have helped develop but there’s no concrete evidence that he’s actually “a development” coach. There is evidence that his teams come out flat, play horrible defense, struggle with simple things, make far too many mental errors (probably lead the league in too many men calls), etc.

Give me a veteran coach for all these young talents. They may not be “development” coaches, specifically but they’ve dealt with young players and they actually know how to coach NHL hockey.

Next game is again Islanders if we look bad and lose again I think Quinn gets fired that would be 6 losses in a row for him.

Can JD pull the plug on the David Quinn Experiment? It has not worked.
