With the Bruins clearly entering a rebuild phase that could last a few years of Pasta’s prime, do they keep him or trade him to get a haul that will greatly accelerate their rebuild ?

Maybe 4 top 5 picks and that´s a maybe. If he had decent top6 center, he would run away with Hart Trophy like nothing
Imo Pasta would return the equivalent of four firsts. So likely two actual picks and a young NHLer, who was a recent first rounder, and a prospect who was a first rounder.

I think there is no conversation to be had until we see how the lottery goes.

And even if end up with a Jake OBrien instead of a Misa or Hagens they ain’t trading Pasta. They will try to retool like they did when Bergeron and Krejci were this age and they missed the playoffs. That lead to a Final appearance and a couple Presidents Trophies. If it’s a failed retool in a couple seasons then we can talk again.

Swayman played like utter shit this year. Boston will bet on a bounce back in net and a healthy McAvoy. They aren't going to tear it down to the studs, they will look to compete again as soon as next year. Especially with a top 7 pick this year

There is no Celebrini in this draft. At the very best scenario some of the kids can become impactful players in a season, but I doubt even about this, there is no michkovs in the draft either.

Schaefer and Misa will be day 1 NHLer's, probably Hagens and Martone too. Maybe not impact like Bedard and Celebrini right away but similar to Leo Carlsson and Adam Fantilli

Oilers made a push for Rantanen and apparently were willing to go higher on an extension than he signed for.

I'd easily be good at 4-5 1st rounders valuation for Pasta. Finally give Draisaitl an elite winger. McDavid would see oppositions 2nd pair D-match up as no way teams wouldn't line match a Draisaitl - Pastrnak line.

I think Boston tries a retool in the next 2-4 years, if things go really badly they could sell anyone and everyone if it's looking like a 5+ year process and they're bottoming out, but they could also surprise everyone when healthy.

Seems pretty dependent on how the first 40 games go next year.

I guess anything can happen:
If terrible and bottoming out, listen to offers for Pasta and go for a king's ransom
If decent-in playoff contention, probably keep him
If good as in a solid playoff team don't entertain moving anyone

It was a really weird season for them with a lot of changes, we'll see next year but I doubt they are in a rush to move Pasta. Hell, if they could get Marner in the offseason, they may feel they're right back in the thick of it.

Pastas at the age where if they are committed to a retool, they need to nail it in like 2-3 seasons.

If they don’t, and it looks like they need to do a full rebuild, Pastas value at 31/32 is a lot different than what it is at 28.

I honestly feel like many posters have just been dying for the B's to lose. sone think they are entering an oilers level decade of darkness to not be heard from until 2035 again.

I think it's a retool and will quickly turn around.

Swayman should be better next year
Healthy McAvoy
Pasta is still elite

There are your building blocks. Nice start.

seems to me they have already started the re-tool

Pasta is going to be offered the Captaincy no doubt if they have not already verbalized that to him by now.. My guess is Pasta will retire a Bruin.

But I thought you never win trading a superstar?

The only missing piece is a true 1st line center. The defense is weaker these days but a good defensive coach can add structure again.

This pick must be top 5 to land that top line center and then the Bruins have the cap space to retool for next season.
