Felger has a point actually. Pastrnak very often has awkward losses of balance and that's the main thing that sticks in his head. However, the tradeoff is his speed, skill and production and I'll take that tradeoff anytime.
Doesn't mean he doesn't need to improve though. The best players are (obviously) the ones that never stop improving and hopefully that's the case with Pasta. But to ignore some glaring holes in his skating game is wrong.
That's Felger's MO though, isn't it? I'm pretty sure he said the same things about Seguin after that trade. I don't care if Pastrnak is the goofiest skater to ever play for the Bruins as long as he keeps putting up 30+ goals and 70+ points.
No doubt. Felger can be annoying as ****. He's a troll for sure, and loves to create takes and develop them to move the needle (Parernity Leave take). He can be so far off in his judgment of value of NHL players it's not even funny.
He's guilty of playing the radio game, but there's not many people better at what he does overall, and I respect the hell out of him.
He certainly gives Pasta his due (during the season more of course) in addition to his complaining about the skating. To his credit, it's not too much of a focal point for him, rather just a detail he mentions.
I keep reading tweets that Pastarnak camp wants bonuses included and it's a sticking point
Chose to be optimistic on the poll (which goes against my nature) and voted long term deal. All six votes logged to this point are for a long term deal actually. Don't think anyone can bear to envision the alternatives
I went trade and I'm pissed now we got his jersey- at least if he stays we will never have to pay to get a letter added since Pasta we can all agree has Z-E-R-O leadership
I think it gets nasty and they trade him to Winnipeg with a top D prospect for Connor and Trouba.

I think bonuses do count against the cap.If that's the case does it just fall back to Jacobs being cheap since the bonuses won't count against the cap?
If Pasta did end up leaving the Bruins because he was asking for ridiculous money ($8.5+) and ti doesn't make sense, that I can live with eventually. However, if it's because of something like bonuses and the team just didn't want to pay, I'm out.
Agreed. I think it's considered part of a player's total compensation, but I may be wrong. I predict a long term deal for 7-7.5M and 7-8 years.I think bonuses do count against the cap.

It shouldn't be difficult to find some creative bonuses in the first few years. Recognize that pastrnak is a financial asset. If he brings goals, team likely wins, more business income. So give him some hard earned $$$ in the first couple years. Started at 6m per, but reality suggests the AAV needs to be somewhere in the 7+ range minimum.
So.. 8 years, 58m
Year 1: 6.75m + 2m for scoring at .25 ppg
Year 2: 6.75m + 2m signing bonus.. cause.. Pasta
Year 3: 6m
Year 4: 6.25m
Year 5: 6.5m
Year 6: 6.75m
Year 7: 7m
Year 8: 8m
Pasta exits his contract at 28 and an 8m BASE for his next contact.
Everybody wins.
Especially us.
