Not sure how plugged this individual is but they think we may be looking at Wahlberg?

Hello from the Sabres board.

The basic thing on Chad is he definitely knows *someone* in the organization and has broken one or two things before. But he doesn't get/share much information and has said plenty of things before that did not end up coming to fruition.

So - I don't doubt someone in the Sabres org said this. But that person could be, like, a janitor who half-overhears conversations.

Both Johnston and Seravalli have been saying a deal is close for days and yet the local beat says it’s not and he continues to play for the monsters. So I’m going to go with it’s not as close as they think.
Yes, considering the local beat reports make far more sense from CBJ's perspective. There's something to be said for the quality and not quantity of reports. Particularly if you consider the possibility that some reports may practically be echoes of each other.

I need some sort of graph, chart, or heat map so I can follow which subjects I’m supposed to trust the CBJ reporters about, and which ones I’m not.

:dunno:

Yes but the rest of the board says national insiders say the trade is imminent therefore our beat writer is completely wrong...

I looked at that comment in the trade section and I had a "are you serious" face. This is from the same group of people who says young superstar Danforth needs to step it up if he wants to continue playing in this league and not get demoted to the AHL

If there are that many teams in on Jiricek he's not going for table scraps really. This isn't a Laine situation because you can just park Jiricek in the AHL for awhile. My conspiracy theory all these "insider reports" Is just Walsh feeding information to them to force Waddell's hand and move him quickly instead of waiting on the right deal.

May well could be. As others have noted, our local beat was routinely scooped by the national guys plenty in the Jarmo era. But we’re no longer in the jarmo era. And we know Nash and Porty are pretty tight.

Porty was pretty on the money with the Laine situation. Was pretty on the nose regarding our interest in Lindstrom at the draft. Etc. but I guess we’ll see

I believe it's close, there's just too much reporting going on from too many credible sources. I'll be surprised if Jiricek is still a Blue Jacket by the end of next week.

I'd imagine it takes a while to do a thorough research on players and prospects they've been offered by several teams, so that might be the reason we're still waiting.

I don’t know who Chris Johnston is but…

Willander from VAN would be a great return but at this point he's probably worth more than Jiricek alone. MNR prospect Beck could be an excellent long-term 3C, if we got him along with 2026 1st it wouldn't be too bad of a deal either. But of course the primary target should be a top-pair upside two-way RD.

not so fast on minnesota. their system is good. the names that appeal most to me in those systems (michkov's not happening)
  1. buium - min
  2. wallstedt - min
  3. yurov - min
  4. edstrom - nsh
  5. rossi - min
  6. drysdale - phi
  7. bonk - phi
  8. luchanko - phi
  9. evangelista - nsh
  10. wood - nsh
of those names, obviously buium and wallstedt are the most appealing. i doubt they give up either guy but you never know.

with buium he was obviously the top guy left on MIN's board when they picked, but they could very well have a higher grade on jiricek. and wallstedt is clearly the top goalie prospect in hockey, but they have a good young goalie in gustavsson already there.

would love to get yurov. slam-dunk top six forward who has taken big steps since moving to center full-time. smart, competitive, skilled player who i think has a shot to be a star. seems like they expect him to come over this summer which is why they may be looking to move rossi.

i'm higher on edstrom than rossi long-term, but rossi looks really good right now and they need to bolster the forward group.

drysdale would be interesting but ultimately uninspiring. definitely a great skater but would run into some of the same issues here that jiricek did – unless evason would have the guts to have him leap-frog severson.

less confident on the projections for the other guys. evangelista is a fine young player but i see him more as a middle six complimentary piece. wood reminds me of laine in a way that makes me nervous.
I don't know that MN would move them, but my dream would be Buium or Yurov personally. I just don't trust goaltenders not in the NHL yet (just me) and think you could trade for one or see how your pipeline develops. Either of those two and I would be thrilled. Especially Buium (even though LHD).
