Jackets fans say Portzline is the guy to listen to. He retweeted Russo’s article:
The Blue Jackets have held talks with a significant number of NHL teams about Jiricek. One is definitely the Wild, and if they can get this done, I’d think it would be for a prospect and perhaps a pick or NHL throw-in.

In terms of prospects, the only untouchables are likely Danila Yurov, Jesper Wallstedt and Zeev Buium.

The article goes on to mention Hunt, Ohgren, Heidt, Haight, Chisholm and Gaudreau (due to Evason connection)

I said a thing and you decided it said something else.

You said a thing and I mistakenly thought you meant the words you said.

Then I said a thing and you intentionally misrepresented what I said, or just didn't understand, still can't tell.

Again for those following along:
By and large the "and you're going to like it" crowd hasn't even gone so far as to offer Ohgren.

I thought this meant that those people haven't even gone so far as to offer Ohgren. Silly me.

For how bad you guys seem to want Jirichek I think the ask would actually be Rossi. If its not that kindly step aside.
CBJ fans are straight trolling at this point. We’ve got a legitimate source saying Rossi will not be part of the deal.
KJ is wildly more valuable. I wouldnt trade him for 3 Rossi's. Nice attempt at a troll though.
Lol.

or at least the only parts I was paying attention to

I've led you to the water, hon, but it's your choice whether or not to drink. It's been an interesting game but this has gone on way too damn long.

We don't want him bad. We want getting him to make sense based on the (admitted) limited knowledge any of us have on the matter.
For what it's worth, I don't want him at all. Doesn't make much sense, and I don't think the risk is worth it.

Can another team step up already and end this, please?

I mean, I just want to know what the difference in value is between Jiricek and Ohgren. I don’t even care if a trade happens at this point.

Well, I can't say for sure what these specific fans would say, and I'm not going to go back and verify, but I do seem to remember a Penguins fan suggesting McGroarty+2nd, and no one bit his head off over it.

In lieu of good faith Jackets fans, I'll just say Ohgren+2nd seems reasonable. We could also add a depth defenseman like Merrill, since they're reportedly open to taking one of those as well.

yeah this is what I was doing too, I guess.

I did the same thing you did, after all.

I've quoted your post in its entirety several times now, no parts of it change the part I'm talking about, bro.
Not at all.

Unless I was incredibly butt hurt that you didn't want my spare parts prospects. Then I would be doing the same thing as you.

Now again, you dont want to give up Rossi or any of your top prospects. Thats fine! But the Hoglander thread is that-a-way. That's more your market.

Dropping all pretense on my part (which I should have done earlier, but I'll admit it, Mr. "You're Lying" annoyed me that much)...

From the Jackets' perspective, the difference is that Jiricek is much more badly needed as he's a high-end prospect at a position we badly need. Ohgren is also a high quality prospect, but we're pretty well set on wingers, so he's not valued here as much. What the gap is isn't something I could say, since we don't really have any other significant needs other than "current goaltending" and that would be more than the Wild should or would nominally be expected to use to cover the gap. So it's really just "add more picks."

Instead of spending countless pages and spilling ink over proper syntax, we could just use some critical thinking to realize that Ohgren and a first isn’t going to get it done. For example, it was reported by Dhaliwal the other day that Columbus inquired about Willander from Vancouver and were rebuffed. Once that happened, Columbus called the Canucks and told them there wasn’t anything they would want. Why would Columbus tell Vancouver that, and then accept a package of Ohgren+1st that a team like Vancouver could match? If you look at all of the teams reported to be in the hunt, all of them have high end prospects or are in line for a top 10 pick this upcoming draft. Not hard to deduce what the Jackets are looking for and willing to accept.
