I'm having a hard time gauging what the appropriate extension is for Sprong. His stats this year:

GP 63 G 21 A 25 PTS 46 +/- +14 PPG 6 PPA 8 TOI 11:16

Quite impressive numbers for a guy with 4th line minutes, and it's not like an enormous amount of his points are on the PP.

Age 26, on his 4th team already. Not much of a track record.

I would push for a shorter term "show-me" deal but he may have other plans.

Thoughts?

Sprong probably takes the money wherever he can get it because there won’t be many more opportunities like this for a player with his history. ARI makes sense as does CAR.

Tough player to gauge, I imagine he will need to take a “show me” contract and bet on himself.

As an RFA I’d guess like 1 or 2 years at around $2.5 million.

He’s an average joe player.

if a team wants vet depth player if they don’t have the ELCs ready then those teams can sign him to something short.

Do lots of average players pace for 25g/60p seasons with 4th line minutes?

He's provided huge value this year. Francis should say "okay, show us you can do that again". $3m x 1.

Definitely not. We've seen outlier p/60s before but a rate like this lasting a full season is incredible.
