Pre-Game Talk: Dallas @ Toronto - Tuesday - 7PM - SN

Thanks for your patience and understanding.
with the NFL playoffs and the Leafs stinking in the dog days of the season, this is probably the most uninteresting time of year for hockey

Would like for us to carry play and generate more chances in this one

This has potential to be the biggest skid of Matthews era. Conditions are ripe. Hope I am wrong. Win here goes a long way.

Like the last time the Leafs lost two games in a row, I expect them to win the next 4 or 5 games straight. This is just what they do. When fans start to think the sky is falling (after two games, mind you), the team ususally rolls off a bunch of wins. Rinse and repeat.

Agreed. I think the longest skid was maybe 4 games. I remember one time during the all Canadian division they had to beat Calgary and lost. Felt like they'd never win another game. But they dont lose many in a row. Hope so.

Berube may not crack the whip right away and see if the teams responds to this next game. Assuming he treads lightly since the team is generally in a great spot in the standings, not to mention he wouldn't wanna get on the wrong side of this group of coach killers

Leafs tend to do well against Dallas, even though they are a tough matchup. Need a strong showing here to get back on track otherwise I'm afraid they will go on a long slide until Stolarz is back, tough schedule up until the Four Nations.

The most important change needs to be how hard they compete. Without an uptick in effort the line juggling isn’t likely to payoff in a big way.

I would argue it has to be functional.. start there. Certainly any powerplay with Rielly not on it has a chance to be functional and a then a difference maker. As soon as he steps on the ice on PP1 we know it will take luck or something high end to score.

When was the last time a team won a cup with a PP that had no D on it? I cannot think of one.
