Screw a big hit. They need to start making basic plays and showing even an ounce of skill. Can't handle pucks, shoot pucks, find open space, skate properly, look completely braindead... And the issue is that the top line is leading the way in those issues. A big hit is not going to fix that.

I actually feel like "effort" and "energy" is the least of their worries. They need to "try" less and "do" more.

This is what I have not understood the past few years. It's why I sometimes say he must be getting overruled and he is more ceremonial commander in chief than the actuator we think he is.

Stand by what I say. Shanahan should get rid of both of them if they lose this. There is no time waste at this point and he is a dead man walking if he doesn't get it right. Just take over GM and get Trotz or something.

Agreed. The difference is Ovy knows he has someone there to back him up. Matthews has Marner and Bunting on his wings to help him in a scrum.

this is on the players. we cant blame the coaches anymore. the guys need to be held accountable. we know what they can do and in this system. wouldn't matter if we had a new g.m or a coach.

at this point we look like the early version of the capitals with ovie. all the talent in the world just cant figure it out between the ears. now we need to find out which is our semin and move on, took them nearly 2 decades to win with arguably the greatest pure goal scorer of all time. lots of early exits lots of agony. lots of regular season success
