Montreal: Tomas Plekanec + Andrighetto

Dallas has injuries up front on wing and center. Montreal fills need at LD and gets another gritty winger.

worse for Montreal, Plekanec is the go to match up guy who plays 17-18 mins a night ther's nobody to replace him in the organisation

as for LD, Emelin is doing great with Weber, Markov is slow but fine and Beaulieu is playing well on the 3rd pairing. Yes Oduya would be an upgrade but Markov isn't getting scratch and beaulieu shouldn't. (the RD is very strong so no one is playing off-side in that situation)

Dallas might not be happy with the value but for Montreal it destroys the line up

We didn't make the trade offer and why do we need another C? Spezza and Seguin are better then Pleks, and I'd rather Faksa as our 3rd line C. Plus Roussel is a very useful winger for us

I'm fine with trading Oduya for a pick/spec tho

There is just no point for us. Oduya is off the books this year and that makes him valuable to us. Plek is not and when healthy he is at best a 3C for us. If we do unload Oduya for what ever reason it should be at the deadline for a pick or a similar expiring forward. That being said we can't afford to move D for offense help. So while the pieces might be more valuable on MTL side, this trade kills Dallas' D and hurts the cap next year.

Plekanec is considered one of the best 2-way centres in the league, is a consistent 50+point producer, and is a team first player. Not to you and the Habs fanboy club, but to anyone who knows anything about hockey.

If we unload veterans its for picks and prospects not for long-term commitments we even need . Sure we need forwards right now but at some point we get players back and Plekanec becomes 3rd Center at best .
