Qualifying offer. Still RFA afterwards i think. Maybe new coaching staff can get him back to 20-30 goals ? If not can still trade him if he doesn't work out.

Wish he was more consistent . Sometimes amazing , most of the time insivible and sometimes outright bad

2.9 is a steal if whoever the new coach is uses him correctly. He has all the tools I’d look for in a scoring winger, just needs to put it together.

Yeah, he has tools. Alas, his toolbox isn't that good and shiny. I'd say, he's a little bit smarter version of Jake Virtanen. Smarter enough to be viable in the NHL with all those tools, but not much.

Damn, wanted a Kapanen trade with him.

Well then you, my friend, are about as unrealistic as “you know who” ;)

Probably dictates the Kapanen deal.

I’m not paying Kapanen $2.9M on the Pens. Would much rather spend the money to retain Rakell and then go after other available players.

But sure, that’s a fine $ amount for SEA or some other team to pay him.

Seems like a player if under a more offensive minded coach could do wonders thanks to his skating ability and ability to get shots to the net.

Given that DAL is getting a new coach, it would be silly to not give Gurianov another chance as he may be poised to break out, rather than just let him walk or trade him when his value is so low.

On a one year deal, it's a low risk bet that's well worth taking.

My thought exactly, it’s a cheap 1 year show me contract. If our new coach comes in and uses him properly I could see him back to 25 goals.

If he still doesn’t work here that’s not a big problem; we could probably move him at the deadline.
