The thinking is that he's a real contender to make the team this fall and part of getting a deal like this with a league minimum NHL salary makes him a more appealing option for the 4th line than Dellandrea for example who you couldn't have gotten down to the bare minimum with his qualifying offer and rights.

Won't lie, was hoping he got a chance with another team.

Sounds like he's either an exceptional tweener or a NHL player

But Dallas is deep. I read an article where he was quoted as saying he comes to training camp and all 13 forwards have 1 way contracts and it's very hard to make team ahead of him.

I do think he'd be an NHL player, I even think he could be a 30 to 50 point guy. I'm just not sure he can crack a very good and deep Dallas squad.

LW is his spot - Dallas is just a bad fit IMO. Not because I blame them, they are awesome.

Looks like a guy who could play a bottom 6 role. Good offensive player in the AHL but I don't see his offensive game translating much to this level. 25-30 point guy probably
