Is he a vanilla sub 6'0 180 lbs nothing who has no stand out trait, and doesnt nothing incredibley well? Sullivan could use more of them after losing his bae in Harking the other night.

Low event 5 v. 5 defenseman. Shouldn’t be more than a 7th defenseman on a playoff team. Will make mistakes filling in up the lineup but thats every 7th defenseman. Probably as good of one as you can ask for realistically.

Any playoff team not 100% confident in their #7 would be foolish to not take him at league minimum
Flames should put in a claim. Especially with Hanifin on his way out this week. Give me Hanley over Oesterle any day.

I could see Hanley being one of those odd situations where the player gains some value once they clear waivers.
Though depending on what the Oilers plan is, I could see them potentially putting in a claim, as They haven't ran a #7 in a while. But that's more out of choice to conserve as much cap space as possible; plus their defacto option (Broberg) has been playing outstanding hockey in the AHL.

He's a fine depth defenseman as long as you have absolutely no expectations of him.
Teams pay their superstars to win games. Nothing wrong with paying somebody 750k to not lose it
