Daily Leafs podcasts - I want just one

I've been listening to Leafs Lunch off and on since 2006. Back then it was amazing, with ex-GM Bill Watters, and Jeff Marek who was on his way to much bigger and better things. Today's product just can't compete with that, through no fault of the hosts, who just don't have that clout.

I mainly listen to Leafs Lunch (and spend time in this section) only in the week leading up the playoffs, during the playoffs, and in the week following the leafs' elimination. This year I'm here for an extended time thanks to all the Dubas drama.

So most of the time this is a "one month of the year" kind of thing for me.

For those who are more plugged in than me, I want to know - am I getting the best coverage/analysis/gossip by listening to Leafs Lunch or is there a better Leafs-related podcast I should be listening to? Here are my criteria:

- Must be daily or at least every weekday
- Must be all or mostly about the Leafs (would prefer any non-Leafs content is at least hockey content)
- can be a radio show converted to podcast form
- Must have daily guests and not just the same 2-3 people going back and forth all the time

For all I know, LL might be the only podcast that meets these criteria. There might also be five other choices, I don't know.

If anyone even more obsessed than me can point me in the best direction, that would be much appreciated.

There are 2 that I think fits most of your criteria's.

-Steve Dangle Podcast is mainly and very Leafs oriented since they are all Leafs fans but they also brush on the main/hot topics around the league. They have plenty of guests that join up once in awhile. I believe they record 3 times a week during the season, less in the off-season.

-Leafs Report with James Mirtle and Jonas Siegel. They only talk about the Leafs and have some guests pop in to talk about the Leafs as well. They are pretty active during the season and take the summer off unless major news happens.

Yes, these sound like they would meet my criteria.

Do you prefer them to Leafs Lunch? They'd need to be high enough quality that they would replace LL.

I'll be honest, I haven't listened to Leafs Lunch in a very very long time other than the odd clip here and there. I am not sure.

I would say it all depends on your own preference. I do prefer Leafs Report and SDP more because I can listen to them on youtube (SDP) or Spotify (Leafs Report) as opposed to the TSN portal which sucks. There's less of a corporate monotone feel to their platform. I also much prefer them over the people they had on Leafs Lunch.

Both Mirlte and Siegel were very pro Dubas and he was their access point and source of info to drive their pods and talks and reports.

Going to be very interesting to see if the tone of those talks change under a different GM, and them being more critical of mistake now and more forgiving as in the past.

Take Jonas Siegel as an example its all turned to doom and gloom now over the loss of Dubas.

I really enjoy watching Leafs Nation on youtube.
One of the co-hosts is Jay Rosehill,ex Leaf, and he holds back nothing on his opinions.
They have Servelli as their insider and guests often.

Yesterday they had ex NHLer John Scott and I loved it,he was open and strongly opinionated about everything Auston Matthews and then the other 2 amigos and then Leaf team overall.
You may not agree with his stand but it was very refreshing to hear someone not worried about hurting anybodys feelings with his opinion.

Most guests that come on seemed very relaxed and not afraid to speak out and that includes a few well known guys that are far more careful what they say on other radio or tv spots.

They still talk about the Leafs and they are well connected with the team. They might have favoured Dubas, especially Siegel, but for the most part they are still fair and critical when they need to be. If someone doesn't like their view points and analysis, that's why there are other shows that fit.

I recommend David Alter and his podcast. He is not the weirdo that Siegal and Myrtle turned out to be... though they (still) are number 2 on my list (I think) as I am sure they will get their heads out of their asses.

David does some pre and post game pods and then just a couple others throughout the week if the Leafs have a few days off.

Just went there and watched the John Scott interview. These guys tell it like it is! I subscribed.

Same here, was actually a surprisingly good listen.

I especially loved his segment on the comparison to the Hawks - about how Toews and Keith would scream at you and call you out if they saw you being lazy.

You just know for a fact there was NONE of this on the Leafs.

I enjoy Real Kyper and Bourne on Sportsnet and Leafs Nation (just wish the segments were longer).
