One of the bigger surprises so far this season in the OHL for me - Burns has played quite well for Kingston and he looks like he could be a player to look out for once the 2023 draft rolls around.

Burns has the size you want in a defender in the NHL - standing at 6'1". He is a mobile defender that is good at carrying the puck up the ice, and also has a really good first pass also. He can be physical although he doesn't use this ability of his game much - he at times struggles to maintain his gaps in the defensive end - but with his mobility, I'm sure that this can be improved upon in time and could even be developed into a strength of sorts. He reminds me a bit of John Moore when he played in the OHL. Should be an interesting player to follow this year - he could see himself shooting up draft lists as the season progresses.

I approve of this message.

I would say that the physical component is pretty consistent though, at least in my viewings.

Has a bit of a tendency to chase the play in the defensive end. Gets himself caught out of position. But I really like the toolbox.

Some thoughts on Burns, he's ranked #37 for NA skaters at midterm, #10 from the OHL. He doesn't really have anything special in his game, but he looks like a very steady, physical D. If he can curb the stick infractions and keep his hits between the lines (he's been suspended at least twice, maybe three times), I think he'll have a real shot at an NHL career as a bottom pair guy.

I expect him to get drafted somewhere between 85th-125th overall, but that may be optimistic

Today Bob McKenzie's had Burns at 59th in his draft rankings. That would put him late 2nd round, with reasonable expectation that he could move up a few or into high 3rd round. Burns has impressed me a lot this year, considering how many games he was up in the Leon centre suite last season. He's second on the team with assists. My only "critique" is the bad timing penalties he tends to take - finding that fine line between aggressive vs careless.

Since the Fronts traded Hache (and Roger has been hurt so often) Burns has been leaned on to be on the ice in all situations. I think he has forced things a bit too much, but all the credit to him in his effort and grit. He has shown tremendous growth in his confidence with the puck and has been jumping up into the play or deep in the ozone regularly. He's going to be a good pro.

He‘a played something like 30minutes per game since the TDL. Insane stuff.

Looks like he's been having a really strong season, anyone that follows him have an opinion on his current play?
