Figured I would start a thread about Luke Bateman. He is a defenseman with Seattle Thunderbirds and is going into his rookie season. He played a few games last year at 16 and did well but played midget for the majority of season.
He is a late birthday and not eligible until 2021 NHL draft. He has been paired up with 2020 highly ranked dman Tyrel Bauer all preseason so far and have done very well and I would imagine they will be paired up for the foreseeable future.
He is still currently 16 years old(turns 17 Sept. 19th) and measured in at 6'6 and is 210lbs. Him and Bauer will be a deadly duo and were already extremely impressive in the preseason shutting down opposing teams to forwards.
He is a massive kid that all teams need. Solid dman that plays well defensively and can shut down anyone. Kills penalties and plays physical and can chip in offensively from time to time.
He is still quite slim but once filled out he should be atleast 230lbs by the time he is 19 and obviously could still grow.
Seattle is building an extremely exciting young team and the pairing of Bauer and Bateman could be unbelievable in another year or 2
