Has rifts with the Swiss hockey federation, and leave the AHL on his own accord to go back to Rogle. if that isn’t attitude issues, I don’t know what is.

Many players have problems with the SIHF...not surprising given how they treat players. This is not on Bichsel.
Regarding Rögle it has nothing to do with attitude issues either. He just used a clause he negociated with the Dallas Stars.

Plenty of people make job decisions based on their personal life. It's not immature, it's being a human being.

Reading between the lines of this article I think I wasn't all that wrong. I think he knows that, having missed so much time due to injuries, he's not quite NHL ready and based on how he's quoted he thinks that Rögle is the ideal place to work on the things he has to in order to be ready for camp ahead of next season and earn a spot on the Dallas Stars roster.
He mentioned mobility as one of the things (as I called it) he wants to work on but also offense and technique. He wants to work on those things in practices and felt like that he wouldn't have enough time to do that while playing on a tough AHL schedule with long road trips. He also said that Rögle's skill coaches and especially their defense coach Max Bohlin (who is just 28yo and kind of a shooting star) were reasons why he chose Rögle.

Rögle now playing in the SHL finals. Bichsel with 2 assists in the last game to eliminate Växjö with a sweep. How is he playing? My understanding is Rögle making the finals is a surprise, did he have a big part in turning their season around?

Caught a bit of the game yesterday. Bichsel has a really interesting profile. He is absolutely massive but definitely has skill. Crushes guys on the boards and has insane reach. I think if he puts it together he could be a very unique defender.

Looked solid, penalty in his first shift and even notched a goal in the 3rd period in what was an otherwise forgettable game by his teammates.

They drafted 4 of their 6 dmen who played tonight. Heiskanen, Harley, Lindell, Bichsel
Did pretty well on Harley and Lindell. Few misses though here and there but not entirely their fault

Bichsel looked good tonight. Had a slower start to the game and looked a step behind mentally in the first, but his game adjusted quickly and he looked very solid in the 2nd and 3rd. Definitely looked good enough to be a regular on this roster. We will see what happens when Dumba is healthy

so happy I drafted this kid in my dynasty league. 5 hits in a game along with a goal in his first NHL game. and was +1. pretty awesome

Lol same here. Drafted him in like the 4th round in my 12 team league during his draft year simply for the fact he will likely be a hits/pims/blks monster in the future. Seems like that pay off should be coming soon!

I got him 18th overall in my 32 team league's draft. hard to remember exactly but I remember wanting Owen Pickering and he got taken one spot before I went and I went with Bischel. so happy it went that way not knocking Owen Pickering but Id much rather insane periphs
edit* sorry I read my chart wrong, I took him 26th overall
Looked like a baby deer for two periods but scored a goal in garbage time. Will be back in Austin before 2025

He's a unique player. Like the 2nd coming of Dustin Byfuglien. Maybe not the same kind of offensive upside but very similar style. Much like Byfuglien he can punish you in every way and he's gonna be hated and feared all across the NHL for hopefully many many years. He's obviously a huge kid and hits to hurt so you gotta keep your head up when he's on the ice. He's got good enough hands to make plays and he's incredibly strong on the puck, too. He has underrated offensive instincts as well though. Many don't know this but his first goal is actually a good example. Not many defensemen in their 1st career game would have been there to score that goal. He knew he had to join the rush on that play...many wouldn't have identified the opportunity let alone had the guts to actually step. Bichsel was there and then deliberately used Luke Schenn as a screen, knowing Annunen wouldn't be able to see his shot. Lian Bichsel may be big and punishing but he also produced offense at every level he played at.
The only thing that worries me is his concussion history. With his playing style he has to pick his battles wisely or he's not gonna last very long at NHL level.
