6'01, 170 lbs. Putting up beautiful numbers (9 goals, 37 points) on an awful team that sold away their only consistent offensive weapons in Pancel and Baptiste. Anyone have any insight on this guy, stylistic comparison and possible range at draft? Thanks!

He struggled last year and didn't live up to the expectations. He greatly lacked strength and could not handle bigger opponents. He's got a great hockey IQ, a quick release (but not a hard shot) and is a very smooth skater but his strength is still a major concern. Luckily for him he is very elusive.

If he was closer to ppg then I would say he could go late 2nd (if some team really really liked him) or early 3rd but at this point I think late 3rd/4th round seems likely.

I haven't watched him since the first half od the season, but I always leave impressed when I watch him play. I think if he can develop his shot he can turn into an offensive contriutor at the NHL level. As HeavyHitter mentiontioned though, he's got to get a heck of a lot stronger. While his defence is an issue, I don't think it'll hold him back if he puts some weight on.

To add to what has already been said, I don't think his defensive issues come from a lack of smarts or ability. I think they are directly related to his lack of strength.

And even then, I don't think the defensive issues are severe. He makes a lot of great plays getting his stick in passing lanes and he's a good defender off the rush where he can use his mobility to keep forwards in check.

Where he tends to struggle at times is when the game slows down in the offensive end and bigger forwards are able to win close 1 on 1 battles in the corners and in front of the net. But the defensive blunders he makes are usually related to a forward out muscling him, and not from being out of position/chasing the play.

His lack of strength also still impacts him offensively at times, as he can be susceptible to turnovers from the forecheck if he's not given enough time to skate out of the zone.

All in all, I do think he's a 2nd/3rd round prospect. I think the progression he's shown this year has been very encouraging and I think that when he gets stronger, we'll see him develop into a very solid two-way defender and not just an offensive guy.

I'm definitely hoping he gets a look at the U18's this year, where he could play with some better players and we'd be able to gauge his ability based upon more than (more often than not) blowouts.

-42 ouch, on a really bad team though 12 wins, 50 losses from sudbury, don't know much from this player but that plus/minus though

I really hope he's available and the Avs take him at 71st overall. Love his game and has tons of room to grow into a great defenseman. Also his numbers were very impressive this year given the team he was surrounded by.

Consider that his -49 doesn't even put him bottom 5 on his team, the team as a whole was awful. I also think someone should take a chance on Timpano.

Sudbury's team was a train wreck this year. His +/- is more an indication that he played a lot of minutes on an extremely weak team.

Personally I'd say it's almost impossible to guess what his defense play would have looked like on a better team as things tended to quickly fall apart around him in the defensive zone. That being said he definitely needs to put on muscle even at this level.

As others have said if he puts on weight he could be a bit of a steal, that being said I don't see him going before the 4th round.

after watching Capobianco slip to the bottom defense at the U18 World Championships, i think we will see the same thing at the draft...4th rounder most likely...simply, other guys are doing the job better than him right now. obviously the top 4 defense at the World Championships were 1st and 2nd line defense pairing, Jeremy Roy-Thomas Chabot, Ethan Bear-Parker Wotherspoon, then it dropped with Guillaume Brisebois-Matthew Spencer-Kyle Capobianco doing the Alternate for third pairing.
Those Top 4 Defense for Team Canada will not be slipping past the 3rd, i'd put money on that...Capobianco likely a 4th round choice maybe a mid-late 3rd round pick

15 points in 24 games in his first full year in the AHL is pretty decent, also with a call up. Mostly assists , but do you guys think it's mostly just being lucky or is this guy looking like a nice player for the Coyotes in a year or so
