I didn't see a thread for this guy so I decided to make one.

I'm surprised there isn't more buzz around the season he is having. At 22 years old it's a monster year in the AHL for him in Hershey with 52 pts in 57 games, which is good for 3rd in league scoring for D men. He's also been on a tear the last month with 21 pts in 15 games.

The Bears' website has him listed at 6'0" and 160 lbs.

Is this just another case of small offensive D man syndrome or does this guy have NHL potential? Size is obviously not ideal but if he was just 185 lbs + it would be hard to imagine a more promising mid 7th round pick.

why ZERO talk of him?

in his 2nd AHL season and is 9th in league scoring as a dman. Leading the league in Dmen scoring with 57 points in 64 games

whats the deal?

Last time I saw him play was a couple of years ago. He was smallish and just a decent skater, his IQ and puck distributing ability was top class though. Was thinking he would have a hard time playing in the AHL, seems like he's taken his game to another level this season judging by his numbers.

i found this info....

Djoos is the son of former NHL defenseman Par Djoos. He has made his name not by being the highly skilled offensive defenseman his father was, but by playing a much more well-rounded game. Though he is a quality skater with the ability to join the rush, Christian is not an outstanding offensive player. He likes to sit back and play a sound game in his own end, though size limitations limit just how much he can do in his own zone. Djoos is not exceptional at any one thing, but does many of them well. He desperately needs to add size and strength to his frame going forward.

After three full seasons with Brynas of the SHL and will make the jump across the pond for 2015-16, where he is skating for Hershey of the AHL. Djoos has that quiet, steady demeanor that most European defenders possess, though his skill set is somewhat limited at this point in time. He will likely need two or three years in the minors before he is ready to crack the NHL. From there, his ideal role will be as a sixth/seventh defenseman contributing a solid all-around game with not many frills.

hmmmm kinda seems like, judging by his AHL stats this year, that he has found his offensive game like his dad had

His dad, Per Djoos was a beast of a defenseman. Best in the game or at least equal to Brian Leetch and Ray Bourque. Skated like Pavel Bure, had a shot like Al Iafrate, and the grit of Dougie Gilmore. Not in the world we live in, but in an alternate dimension known as Sega Genesis where he was GOAT!

The "he likes to sit back and play a sound game in his own end" part is pretty inaccurate, not that he's an overly offensive minded defenseman but he certainly doesn't sit back.

ya I think that info I found was a couple years old... there really is no newer updates or news on this kid it seems like

anything new I find is pretty much people saying how pleasantly surprising his offensive numbers have been

How has he fared so far in the preseason? I haven't had a chance to watch any Caps action. Any chance he makes the team this year or is it back to the AHL for him which he's already proved he can dominate?

Losing Alzner, Schmildt and Shatt in off season makes me believe he will be very important for washington dcore... I picked him in my keeper and I hope for the best.

he's pretty much guaranteed a spot in nhl since he has to go through waivers to go back to ahl

I know nothing about him outside of the Blues/Caps preseason game. I love his name and hope he's in the NHL full time so i can hear it more

Nice to see him get on the board right away after his fantastic AHL season last year. Not enough people are talking about the offensive upside he has.
His dad was a fairly prolific offensive Dman in Europe.

very little courage needed to pronounce Christians full name. i reserve that for mispronouncing his fictional brother Cassidy aka "Cass Dajews".
