Big strong defender that plays for the Soo Greyhounds in the OHL. At 6’3” Gibson is a very strong skater that is able to use his excellent footwork to keep a strong gap with the opposition. Gibson also has a cannon of a slap shot from the point and will give defenders second thoughts about blocking his shot. Should be in for a good year.

Very impressive in tonight game at rookie Camp vs Dallas. Good with his gaps. Good first pass, very good with his stick. He was also excellent to defend in the dangerous zone.

First saw him watching one of my teams picks from '22 and began to follow for the draft. The more i saw the more i couldn't believe how low he was ranked. The Soo were a mess so it was hard to gauge but you could see the raw makings of a big NHL RD.

Once he played in the U18s and settled some questions about playing games that matter in a higher level i had him ranked in the 1st round. I thought he was the best D on Canada by the time things wrapped up when he started by platooning as a 6/7.

He's gonna be the next Shea Weber/Ryan Suter/Mattias Ekholm/Roman Josi stud defenseman out of Nashville. Their defensive amateur and pro scouting is unmatched. If Nashville thinks your defenseman is worth acquiring...you probably shouldn't trade him.

He was given top minutes on a poorly managed/coached team. It's not like any single skater on Canada looked good compared to expectations. I think he looked better than most defenseman on that team not named Molendyk/Schaefer.

He was completely in over his head just about every time he was on the ice during the world juniors. Looked a lot like Justin Holl of junior players.

He probably shouldn’t have been there in the first place and the fact they were stapling him to Molendyk made no sense. That said, his discipline cost the team the Latvia, USA, and Czech games

Never got why Nashville traded Kiiskinen for Gibson. Kiiskinen could be a dude for Detroit and Gibson just looks like a D who is out of position and takes bad penalties, may never make it. Yzerman smart trade (right before he F'd up the Walman trade)

Open to eat crow about Gibson but have never been that impressed by him, Major junior defensemen who aren't elite offensively need to be elite defensively, and I don't think Gibson is there (yet).
