I'm not Czech but Czech republic is close to my heart. Have a lot of friends there and speak the language and of course have been supporting Czech ice hockey national team. Since today they have a new coach - Vladimir Ruzicka. He's not a new face on the bench he had succes in the past.

I wish czech hockey good luck at world championship in Belarus and in the future!

Wait - haven't Ruzicka and Hadamczik simply taken turns behind the Czech bench for the past decade or so?

Almost as if there was a Czech hockey coaches' union with these two as the only members.

Yeah, the third works for Slovakia.

Unfortunately, that's how it is. We don't have so many good coaches, I guess. To be honest, I can imagine just four guys as head coaches right now - Jandac, Riha, Ruzicka, Vujtek.. then there's a big gap and there goes for example Vaclav Sykora, Zdenek Venera etc. good coaches but in my eyes not good enough for NT. But I could be wrong.

Why not a Canadian coach? Look at Switzerland for example, who has had great succes with theirs.

Nice timing, hope they will be better with this coach.. if you see only a roster, they definently deserve that.

I see a grim future for the Czech Republic, as far as best-on-best tournaments are concerned - no matter who the head coach is. Where are the young Czech stars?

And for someone whose favourite players of all-time include Vladimir Martinec and Ivan Hlinka it is sad.

:-D never gonna happen. Never. Not necessarily a good thing, but the truth. I cannot imagine a coach from another country. Maybe...JUST MAYBE...a swede. With Lener and the entire progressive part of the Association looking at Sweden as a top European country and a role model for hockey development. But I give that like a 5% chance and Ruzicka would have to massively f... up during the Worlds. So it would seem like there is NO other way to go than abroad. Or we could have Hadamczik back;-)))

It's not that tragical IMO. We still got Voracek, Hertl, Gudas, Palat, Jaskin, Mrazek.. Vrana and Pastrnak will likely be first rounders in this years draft, next year there's Zacha, Zboril, Vladar.. the situation is not ideal at all but the future looks much better than it did like 5 years ago.
