Interesting. If Gauthier thought he was going to be on the team a year earlier that could cause bitterness. Such a decision to delay would cost him a year on his ELC and quite a lot of money.Friedman on today's episode of 32 Thoughts: The Podcast.
"I think he believed he was gonna join the team at the end of the season. And, I think, look, can I say 100% there was a promise made? No, I can't say that. But what I can say is that at least the player believed there was... I dunno, I don't want to speak for Gauthier, whether he felt it was a promise or an indication, whatever the case.
And that year was so bad in Philadelphia that Jones and Briere made a decision that they weren't going to bring him in to the locker room. They said their locker room was a really tough place, and they offered him to go to the American Hockey League and finish that year and then join the Flyers the next year, and it was just never the same after that point."
This was what I was posting when this went down. I obviously have ZERO knowledge of what actually happened, but the only thing that made sense to me was that Fletcher told CG's team they would burn a year when his collegiate season ended and right before that happens, he gets fire and Briere doesn't feel the need to honor that statement. Given that a guy like Bernier in SEA had burned a year, and was able to sign a $7M per year contract a year early that was a HUGE, HUGE potential financial hit to CG. That's the "most likely" course of events to explain why the relationship melted down.Interesting. If Gauthier thought he was going to be on the team a year earlier that could cause bitterness. If Briere / Jones promised, bad on them. If not, Gauthier should have taken the hit and buckled up for the coming year.
I bet that it was Fletcher who promised, but he got fired the month before CG's collegiate season ends and Briere/Jones don't feel the need to honor Fletcher's promise. That was obviously their "right" to do so, but it's also CG's "right" to feel betrayed and not want to sign there long term if the organization does not fulfill their promises.Interesting. When Cutter plays in Montreal, will the RDS broadcast crew pronounce his name as Coupeur?
A lot of Optimism around him going forward. Big (looks bigger than he is I find) fast and a lethal shot and constantly improving. We have no high touted players that play the way he does.2 goals last night. Including OT winner. Has been producing very well as of late considering who his head coach is.

Prospects should trust that management has their development as their top priority, given how much has been invested in them. Toxic players in the locker room that weren't serious about winning or competing like Hayes and Provorov were not good to have a young prospect around. God forbid guy play a couple games in the AHL against grown ass men to get his feet wet and then compete for a roster spot like the rest of the NHL.This is quite obviously what happened. And the thing is, if you look around the league, the better college players are all offered this (i.e., the ability to burn a year on their ELC). The ducks have signed all of the recent top picks for a game or two after the college season ends (including Zegras, Lacombe, and Cutter). It goes to how an organization treats it players/top prospects.
I've seen people post something along the lines of "Briere was not bound by whatever promise Fletcher made." If that's your position, then by the same token, Cutter is not bound by whatever promises he made to Fletcher (i.e., that Cutter wanted to be drafted by and play for Philly). It is a two way street and I have little doubt that Cutter and his agent made it clear to Briere what the expectation was. And, as noted above, the expectation was both reasonable and fairly customary.
The only problem is that this is provably false.Prospects should trust that management has their development as their top priority, given how much has been invested in them. I'd argue his reason, whatever it is, makes him look bad, and that's why he won't tell anyone what it actually was.
Your employer promises you making big money, then takes that away because they can’t fix the locker room. Could also make you miss out on millions later as well. I’m sure you’d handle it perfectly. I can see how logical you are in how you are handling Cutter wanting a trade in a perfectly reasonable timeframe.Prospects should trust that management has their development as their top priority, given how much has been invested in them. I'm considering graduating college early and my future employer says no, you should enjoy your time in college more or work for our sister company, we're currently cleaning up our main company to get out employees who will make you unsuccessful and prohibit you from correctly learning how to do the job.Your employer promises you making big money, then takes that away because they can’t fix the locker room. Defer to a professional like…. Hmmmm…. I don’t know…. His agent? The person paid to look out for his future?I'm considering graduating college early and my future employer says no, you should enjoy your time in college more or work for our sister company, we're currently cleaning up our main company to get out employees who will make you unsuccessful and prohibit you from correctly learning how to do the job.
Considering I'm just a college kid about to get his first real job, I'd defer to the professionals without question. I would not say "no, you're wrong, I can and will thrive in that environment and unless you let me work in that environment then I will find a different company". I'd respect that the company was so invested in me to put this much thought into my development.
You failed to mention that you would be making only 10% while at the "other company", and long term it could potentially cost you $6M. (I calculated that number based on the contract that Bernier signed in SEA when he was able to burn a year off of his ELC). Would you still be thrilled that the organization put so much thought into your development? Because the only reason they would do that is for your own good right? Not that the organization would then have the ability to keep you playing for a fraction of your potential market value for an additional year on the ELC that you have to sign. Cutter was SO lucky that he was drafted by such a benevolent and kind organization that had his best interest at heart!!I'm considering graduating college early and my future employer says no, you should enjoy your time in college more or work for our sister company, we're currently cleaning up our main company to get out employees who will make you unsuccessful and prohibit you from correctly learning how to do the job.

I didn't hijack anything. Another duck fan started a Flyers smear topic, again. So I commented on the topic they brought up.I like how this guy's thread got closed, so now he just hijacked another Cutter thread to continue on the same tirade lol.
Lol this man said CaliforniaIf a prospective employer told me they needed to clean up their dysfunctional workforce before I could start, I would take the other offer in California.
Let's see what Gauthier's next contract looks like, because right now he's looking like he could've used the AHL time. He's only hurting his next contract with his current numbers. You failed to mention that you would be making only 10% while at the "other company", and long term it could potentially cost you $6M. I hear a lot of "it's a business" when teams prioritize the organization, which is obviously a right they have. IMO - this is the same shoe on the other foot, and to be expected when a team doesn't live up to what they said they would do and it potentially costs the player a significant amount of potential earnings.

You can tell most Flyers fans have watched 2 games of Cutter playing and that was when the Ducks played Philly which, admittedly, weren't great showings. He isn't lighting the league on fire but for the most part I'm happy with his play. 20 points for a rookie at this point in the season is fine and overall he's looked pretty good most nights. He's also doing it while playing for one of the worst coaches in the league.Let's see what Gauthier's next contract looks like, because right now he's looking like he could've used the AHL time. 4th in team scoring at just shy of a half a point per game as a rookie, even on a -27 team, and has among the strongest one-ice metrics for forwards on the team. 4th in rookie scoring.
Not really sure what you're expecting.

You have literally no clue what you are talking about with the AHL time. Hilarious to dig your heels in when you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. You clearly have an insane bias so I won’t presume it’s a clear lack of knowledge about the game. Mind blowing stuff coming from you bud. Just hit ignore on the thread with this horrible analysis.I didn't hijack anything. Another duck fan started a Flyers smear topic, again. So I commented on the topic they brought up.

He has 11 less points then Michkov while playing with worse linemates, on a worse team and less PP time. So I’m assuming you are preaching Michkov needs AHL time since it’s the numbers you are alluding too?Let's see what Gauthier's next contract looks like, because right now he's looking like he could've used the AHL time.
