Podcast (Audio) Crash the pond recent episode

In the most recent Crash the pond episode ( the last one I will ever listen too) jake Rudolph said because of his dislike of the Q hiring and dislike of Verbeek. He would rather see the ducks be a bottom feeder so that Verbeek and Q are fired. It made me curious, do any others feel that way in here? I ask because I was instantly shaking my head at how scummy I think that is of him( to me it’s selfish af ) to the players and fan base. I appreciate the years of listening to crash the pond. There is little ducks content out there, so I have always listened. But I’m definitely done. I can’t for the life of me, fathom being able to stomach 10 disclaimers every episode where jake has to say “ that’s cuz of my bias though” when he tries to justify wanting our team to lose. Anyways I’m genuinely curious if any of you feel this way as well? And what’s your rational for this. Why not just look back on the pre Q hiring era , appreciate them and move on. Why stay around to want us to lose?

Sicard may be annoying but at least has knowledge. Rudolph is clueless. Hope jumps ship to a different team

Isn't what you're doing of not giving CTP any hits similar to what Jake is doing in not supporting the team? The Q hiring is highly contentious and I'd rather let people decide how they want to feel than to dictate to them how they should be feeling. Did you not read the Q hiring thread to see the wide array of emotions?

I wouldn’t have hired Q, but it’s foolish to isolate your anger to Verbeek. Ownership obviously approved of this hire. Rudolph is going to be waiting a long time until the Samueli’s sell the team. Then he might have management that shares his sentiment.

I can see your point, in my case i just don’t feel aligned with a person whos wanting the team to fail to be able to hope that in turn leads to the demise of our Gm and new head coach. It is what it is. I’ve always appreciated the podcast, all these years. And I made this post genuinely wondering if Rudolph’s pov is shared here ( full disclose, if it is, I will politely and quietly bid fare well here ) I don’t have much free time now a day. And I would be ok with that. I love my ducks and the players. And I’ve really enjoyed my time here in the boards. Unfortunately I’m one of those people who can’t do the tongue in cheek. So instead of fighting with any of you, would rather just step away if his sentiment is one that’s a real shared feeling around here.

Exactly, to be clear I don’t wish him or sicard any ill will at all. On the contrary, I’m grateful for the years of content I’ve consumed

By not supporting CTP, then they are losing that viewership. And by advertising it here, robbieboy is promoting to canceling them. That is wanting CTP podcast to fail. Like I said, robbieboy is doing the same thing.

It seems that his sentiment isnt shared around here. That’s all I wanted to know ( I don’t want to do harm to their show ) to prove that . Mods can lock and delete this thread before more people see it. It’s ok, I genuinely wanted to see if I needed to go mia from these boards too( I’m glad I don’t have too) I enjoy my time here. Energy can be felt, so I don’t resonate at all with fans who want the team to lose to prove that the Gm and his coaching hire were bad. Am I wrong to feel that way? For me, no. I know what I can do tolerate and what I can’t. I’m limited for sure

That’s kinda where I was at until the news about Quenneville working quietly with organizations behind the scenes. I’m still ambivalent about it. I’m a huge sports fan, but I’m not a FANATIC, where sports and winning trumps everything else. If it turns out to all be lip service that’ll be trying.

I do think that there’s probably an element of just how close one has or has not been to sexual abuse in their opinions on the topic.

I don’t want to derail this into the Q thread stuff, but I think that’s probably where the answer to your question lies.

Side note, I don’t listen to the podcast.

Robbieroy made this post as his level of disapproval with intent of spreading the cancellation. Unlike robbieroy, I'm not judging him not listening to CTP b/c the whole Q thing is high contentious and controversial.

As far as rooting against the team we are like 1-2 seasons removed from the fanbase largely rooting for a tank for bedard/ Celebrini so like idk why that was okay but this isn’t.

In this situation even if you thought verbeek and Q should be fired you’d be setting yourself up for disappointment because I’m not so sure that verbeek and Q wouldn’t get another year even if this year turns into a lotto pick year.

Sicard pushed back, saying he wants to see the young guys finally rewarded after so many years being bad. And that, another bad season( even if that meant Q and verbeek would be let go) wouldnt be enough to combat the fact that our young guys losing more would be very demising. 1-2 seaosns ago, tanking meant being able to draft the final pieces needed for a rebuilding team. The tank thread stuff came from wanting to see your Gm and organization finish a rebuild and ultimately hoping that leads to a decade +of being good again and to maybe winning a cup.

To me, it's just one of those board facts that most if not all podcasters suck.

If you enjoy it, that's all that matters. I listen to them, and very rarely do they actually say something factually wrong. It's just opinions.

There's no substantive difference, everyone's rooting against the team in hopes of whatever they think is best for the team according to them. Low class either way.
