Craig Button releases the January version of Craig's List for 2024 draft

Dude is really hyping up the defencemen at the top of the draft.
I mean, I'd say it's by far the strength of this draft class. I think guys like Jiricek, Yakemchuk, Parekh, Buium would be top 3 defenseman in a lot of other drafts... but might not be top 3 defenseman in this one.

It will be extremely interesting to look back on this draft in 7 or 8 years to see which of these dmen become the most impactful at the NHL level, given how diverse the dmen are this year.

Kind of reminds me of the 2018 Draft with all the talented defensemen coming in all shapes, sizes, and styles.

I'm not even gonna criticize the rankings because I don't know much about the players this time around...

... But I absolutely hate, especially in a draft where he's hyping the shit out of the defensemen, that he doesn't provide their shooting handedness.

Love the Nygard placement,
I don’t see high end potential, at all. He‘s a late birthday and isn’t producing the best in Swedens second division. If you want a player in the mold of Nygard, just go Liam Greentree.

Also love where Luca Marelli and Sam O’Reilly are. two underrated players imo.

Catton jumps out as insane. If my team got him there I would be thrilled. Top 5 for me. Proven play driver and over 45% of his teams offense. Maybe if this was last years draft I could see Catton getting to 10. This year? No way do I think that should happen.

Still don't see how you can have Lindstrom at 10 and even I am not as big of a fan of his as others on this site. Atleast he has Basha at 19.

I can't imagine taking Parekh at 8 either. Or Eiserman at 2.

Really? I see lot of potential, physical two-way winger with good shot. He's scoring ain't that bad considering this is is his 1st full pro year. He is 10th highest scoring U20 player in Allsvenskan, him and Noel Nordh are only 18-year olds in the top-10. Nordh has scored 3 points more in 6 more games and Nordh plays in highest scoring team in the league. Nygård's team Mora is 8th highest scoring team in the league.

Filip Forsberg scored 17 points in 43 games in 2011-12, previous year Forsberg played 10 games and scored 1 goal. Last season Nygård played 11 games and scored 3 points. In the J20 league 2010-11 season Forsberg scored 40 points in 36 games and last season in J20 Nygård scored 38 points in 35 games. Nygård is little behind of Forsberg in Allsvenskan scoring but ahead of him in J20 scoring. Forsberg turned out ok, despite his draft year scoring wasn't that high.

In the U20 Worlds Norway scored 8 goals, MBN had 5 points and +/- 0. Quite good considering Norway allowed most goals in the tournament. Easily a top-15 pick.

Greentree in the other hand is a man in boys league, that could make him look better than he is actually is. Dal Colle, Nick Ritchie, Virtanen, Brendan Perlini, Brett Connolly, Logan Brown, Cody Glass just to name few.

He started very slow if you look at his production in Allsvenskan with 1 point in the first 14 games. After that he has now got 6 points in the next 10 games. If he continue with that pace he will end up with around 20 points this season which is not bad for a player his age.

All those forwards you listed aside from Brown had questionable heads. and with Brown his question mark was his compete. If you have ever seen Greentree, you know he is one smart cookie and competes like no tomorrow. No saying he can’t bust, anyone can but at this stage he looks like a good bet to be a top-6 kid.
I think you kinda proved my point brining up Nordh. he was a 3rd round pick last year, yet is out producing Nygard who some think should go top 10? Get outta here. Nygard and Nordh are both ‘05’s too, with size.

I think that people that are falling head over heels with Nygard and placing him in the top 10, even 15 are crazy. He isn’t that good. is he a first round pick? absolutely, but at the latter half of the first round.

lol cayden at 10 and eiserman at 2 once again showing why he no longer works in a nhl head office.. clown button strikes again
Agree on Lindstrom but Eisermann is still a consensus Top 5 guy. Nobody else has locked down the 2nd spot … yet

No i have not seen him, but i can see his profile and i see he has matured early which makes it easy for him push kids a side. But of course he could be better than Nygård and i see Greentree in the top-15 as well.

Nordh is 9 months older and plays in the highest scoring team in the league. And you managed to dodge the Forsberg comparison very poorly. And Joka just mentioned this

Sounds like he is very well in the Forsberg territory, #11 overall pick if im not mistaking.
